This article describes the history of the 18th Infantry Division in 1945–1950. This Division was formed in 1945, based on 1st School Division of Infantry. In July the Division was moved from the district of Warsaw to the area near Skierniewice belonging to the Łódź Military District. In that place the Division was reformed into the 18th Infantry. At that time it consisted of 57, 62 and 65 Infantry Regiments, 54 Light Artillery Regiment, 51 Engineers Battalion, 21 Anti–Tank Artillery Division and a few smaller units. Between October and November 1945 the Division was moved to the area of Bialystok Province and submitted to the command of the Warsaw Military District. Since then, units of the 18th Infantry Division took part in fighting against Polish underground military and also in agitation and propaganda actions before the referendum of 1946 and before elections to the Legislative Sejm in 1947. Dislocation of the Division in 1945–1950 underwent a few changes, although basically it was stationed in Bialystok Province all this time. At the same time the Division frequently changed its vacancies which decreased its numbers. It was a consequence of the policy of decreasing numbers of the Polish army pursued until the end the 1940s. A major breakthrough in the history of the 18th Infantry Division came in 1951 when the Division was included into the Infantry Corps subject to the command of the Warsaw Military District, which started a new era in its history – ended by disbanding of the Division in 1956.

В статье описана история 18 пехотной дивизии в 1945–1950 гг. Әта дивизия была основана осенью 1945 г. на базе 1 школьной пехотной дивизии. В июле дивизия было перенесена из района Варшавы в район Скерневиц на территорию Лодского военного округа. Здесь дивизия была переформирована в 18 пехотную дивизию, в состав которой входили: 57, 62 и 65 пехотный полк, 54 полк легкой артиллерии, 51 саперный батальон, 21 противотанковый артиллерийский дивизион и несколько меньших единиц. На рубеже октября и ноября 1945 г. дивизия была перенесена на территорию Белостокского воеводства и поступила в подчинение руководства Варшавского военного округа. С того времени единицы 18 пехотной дивизии принимали участие в боях против польского вооруженного подполья, а также в агитационных и пропагандистских акциях перед референдумом в 1946 г., перед выборами в законодательный сейм в 1947 г. Дислокация дивизии в 1945–1950 гг. несколько раз поддавалась изменениям, хотя в основном на протяжении всего әтого времени она находилась на территории Белостокского воеводства. В то же время дивизия часто меняла свой штат, который не прекращал уменьшаться. Әто было результатом проведения политики сокращения польской армии, которая длилась до конца сороковых годов. Основной перелом в истории 18 пехотной дивизии произошел в 1951 г., когда дивизия была включена в корпус пехоты, подчиняющийся руководству Варшавского военного округа, что и стало началом нового периода в ее жизни, который закончился расформированием в 1956 г.
