Polish Red Cross is a humanitarian organization providing aid in the events of natural disasters, mass accidents, and search-and-rescue operations. It educates the citizens by providing first aid training. The Polish Red Cross Recue Group System consists of three types of groups: the Rescue Group, the Medical Rescue Group and the Specialist Rescue Group. They are always ready to provide assistance, especially in times of catastrophes and natural disasters. Moreover, they provide medical support at mass events, such as concerts, live shows, etc.. The aim of this paper was to show in detail how these Rescue Groups function when providing medical support and to describe their legal status. In addition, I have described the organization and functioning of the Polish Red Cross Rescue Team in Bedzin, based on the documentation covering their activity in 2014. The documentation shows that the Rescue Team is a fully functioning, effective and efficient group, always at-the-ready. The number of rescue actions the group participated in shows that its members are fully qualified and experienced, thus the society can rely on them whenever necessary. Polski Czerwony Krzyż jest organizacją humanitarną, działającą w przypadkach katastrof, wypadków masowych oraz akcji poszukiwawczych. Dodatkowo spełnia rolę edukacyjną, poszerzając wiedzę społeczeństwa na temat udzielania pierwszej pomocy. Wyodrębniony został System Ratownictwa Polskiego Czerwonego Krzyża, w którego skład wchodzą: Grupy Ratownictwa PCK, Grupy Ratownictwa Medycznego PCK oraz Grupy Ratownictwa Specjalnego PCK. Grupy te są w stanie gotowości, aby w sytuacjach krytycznych nieść pomoc społeczeństwu. Dodatkowo zajmują się zabezpieczeniem medycznym imprez o różnym charakterze. Celem pracy jest szczegółowe omówienie działania Grup Ratownictwa podczas zabezpieczenia medycznego oraz przedstawienie jego prawnej organizacji. Dodatkowo przedstawiona została organizacja i funkcjonowanie Grupy Ratownictwa PCK w Będzinie, na podstawie uzyskanej dokumentacji dotyczącej działań podjętych w 2014 roku. Z dokumentacji tej można wnioskować, że grupa ta jest organizacją sprawnie działającą, przygotowaną do szybkiej reakcji w sytuacjach nagłych. Liczba wydarzeń, w których uczestniczyła Grupa Ratownictwa PCK pokazuje, że jej członkowie mają ogromną wiedzę oraz doświadczenie, dzięki czemu społeczeństwo w każdej chwili może liczyć na ich pomoc.

The Polish Red Cross workers in the years 1945–1947 provided support to state authorities and local government with regard to caring of people and achieving the state goals related to takeover, development, and Polonization of the territory. Lack of personnel and finance, difficult political and social situation posed particular challenge, required composure and devotion. Not all the workers were able to endure hard working conditions, fast pace of life, and the sense of threat at that time. Those who took up hard labour and weren’t scared of difficulties played a positive role in the life of the inhabitants of Western Pomerania.

Pracownicy Polskiego Czerwonego Krzyża w latach 1945-1947 byli wsparciem dla władz państwowych i administracji lokalnej w opiece nad ludnością i realizacji celów państwa w zakresie przejęcia, zagospodarowania, spolonizowania terenu. Brak kadry, finansów, trudna sytuacja polityczna i społeczna stawiała przed nimi szczególne wyzwania, wymagała opanowania i poświecenia. Nie wszyscy wytrzymywali warunki pracy, tempo życia i poczucie zagrożenia w tamtym czasie. Ci którzy podjęli trud pracy i nie przelękli się trudności odegrali pozytywną rolę w życiu mieszkańców Pomorza Zachodniego.

The main aim of the article is to present and discuss various aspects of pastoral care for Polish citizens (civil and military) in places where Poles reside in France, i.e. in Polish shelters, work, companies, hospitals during the time of the Welfare Society for Poles in France in the years 1939–1944. In the difficult period of the Second World War, the pastoral care enjoyed by the Polish immigrants in France was of great importance to them. The pastoral care helped to survive this difficult time, united her expatriates, gave them hope to change the situation. The priests working in the Polish community surrounded with their pastoral care all Poles who wanted and needed such a ministry, many of them were arrested and imprisoned for this activity, and some were killed.

W ciągu ostatnich 50 lat na świecie wybuchło ponad 250 konfliktów i zginęło ponad 86 milionów osób cywilnych, głównie kobiet i dzieci. Ponad 170 milionów ludzi pozbawionych zostało godności, praw i dobytku. O większości ofiar zapomniano, a tylko w minimalnym stopniu zbrodniarze wojenni zostali osądzeni. Istnienie w prawie międzynarodowym wielu postanowień zakazujących zbrodni wojennych, ludobójstwa, zbrodni przeciwko ludzkości, ochrony dóbr kultury, a ostatnio agresji nie stanowi skutecznego środka do respektowania prawa. Do dziś brakuje sprawnego systemu egzekwowania tych praw oraz pociągania do odpowiedzialności karnej indywidualnych sprawców.

In the last 50 years more than 250 conflicts broke worldwide out and killed more than 86 million civilians, mostly women and children. Over 170 million people have been deprived of their dignity, rights and possessions. The majority of the victims were forgotten, and only a few war criminals were tried. The regulations existing in international law, which are prohibiting war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity, protection of cultural heritage and, most recently aggression are not effective and not respected. To this day an effective system of enforcing those rights and bringing the individuals responsible for it to justice does not exist.
