Poniższa praca przedstawia postać polskiego okulisty Bolesława Ryszarda Gepnera (1863-1923) wraz z jego dorobkiem naukowym. W 1888 roku ukończył studia na Wydziale Lekarskim Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. W 1889 wyjechał zagranicę i pracował jako okulista w Heidelbergu, Frankfurcie nad Menem i Berlinie. Od 1891 roku pracował w Instytucie Oftalmicznym w Warszawie, a w 1900 roku został tam ordynatorem nadetatowym. W 1908 roku powstało w Warszawie Towarzystwo Okulistyczne, a Gepner został jego wiceprzewodniczącym. W latach 1921-1923 pełnił funkcję prezesa Polskiego Towarzystwa Okulistycznego. W 1911 roku został współzałożycielem Towarzystwa Opieki nad Ociemniałymi w Warszawie. Był synem Bolesława Gepnera (1835-1913) wybitnego polskiego okulisty, prezesa i członka honorowego Towarzystwa Lekarskiego Warszawskiego.

The following work presents the biography and scientific achievements of the Polish ophthalmologist Bolesław Ryszard Gepner (1863-1923). In 1888 he graduated the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Warsaw. In 1889 he went abroad and worked as an ophthalmologist in Heidelberg, Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. From 1891 he worked at the Ophthalmic Institute in Warsaw, and in 1900 he became chief physician there. In 1908, the Ophthalmology Society was established in Warsaw, and Gepner became its vice-president. He was the president of the Polish Ophthalmology Society between 1921 and 1923. He co-founded the Society for the Care of the Blind in Warsaw in 1911. He was the son of Bolesław Gepner (1835-1913), the prominent Polish ophthalmologist, president and honorary member of the Warsaw Medical Society.
