The aim of the article is to determine the similarities and differences in the conceptualization of selected names of fruits in modern Polish and Russian language. The similarities and differences mentioned were determined through the comparative analysis which was conducted on the basis of the theory of the linguistic worldview developed by Polish researchers such as J. Bartmiński and R. Tokarski. In the study five pairs of units were examined: jabłko – яблоко(an apple),  gruszka – груша(a pear) , śliwka – слива(a plum), wiśnia – вишня(a cherry) and malina – малина(a raspberry). In the article common elements for individual pairs were indicated. Moreover, observed differences were discussed thoroughly indicating their source. As it could have been expected, when referring to two closely related languages, the similarities in the conceptualization overweigh detected differences. The latter, as it was indicated in the article, are connected with the historical and cultural conditions, especially with different culinary traditions in Poland and Russia.
