The purpose of the article is to present the Polish educational system outside Poland in the years 1990–2015 on the basis of selected significant works. In his book Szkolnictwo polonijne w świecie. Zarys syntezy (1995), Albin Koprukowniak foresaw the decline of Polish schooling in Western Europe, in the US and in Australia, and the revival of Polish schooling in the countries of the former USSR. The next volume to be discussed is a collection of papers from the Fifth Polonia Educational Forum: Oświata polonijna na początku XXI wieku. Stan i perspektywy (2006). The participants of the Forum launched an appeal concerning the education of New Polonia’s children in countries of the European Union, calling for the establishment of Polish schools needed to preserve the national identity of young people leaving Poland. Since Poland joined the EU, there has been rapid development of Polish schooling both in the UK and in Ireland, Iceland, Portugal and Spain, where there was no previous tradition of Polish education. Finally, the author presents the establishment of The Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad (ORPEG) in Warsaw in 2010, and discusses the book by Roman Laskowski Language Maintenance – Language Attrition: The case of Polish Children in Sweden (2014).
