The paper presents information about the Polish media in the Latgale region – an area with the largest concentration of Poles in Latvia. Media of this type operate with the support of, among others, the Polish Senate and various foundations. The beginnings of the Polish-language media in Latgale date back to the late 1990s. In cooperation with different Polish organizations, Polish media in the region (mainly radio and television) activate and integrate the Polish diaspora, as well as provide information about the everyday life of Poles in Latgale. What is more, such media play an important role in popularizing the Polish language and culture.

Jednym z głównych źródeł informacji na temat migracji do Wielkiej Brytanii, problemów Polaków w nowym miejscu osiedlenia, warunków życia w Wielkiej Brytanii i wielu innych tematów ważnych z punktu widzenia migranta są media. Wielu migrujących przynajmniej początkowo nie zna języka kraju, w którym się osiedla – bądź zna go zbyt słabo, by korzystać z mediów głównego nurtu – niekoniecznie też znalazłby w nich poszukiwane przez siebie informacje. Dlatego ważną rolę w systemie instytucjonalno-organizacyjnym społeczności migrantów, a także – jak się wydaje – w życiu osobistym migrujących pełnią media w języku ojczystym dostępne w nowym miejscu osiedlenia. One of the main sources of information on migration to the UK, the problems of Poles settling in a new country, living conditions in the UK and many other topics of importance to the migrant, is the media. Many migrants, at least initially, do not speak the language of the country where they settle or do not know it well enough to fully understand what is being communicated in the media. In addition to this, many Poles face difficulties finding the information they are looking for. Therefore, media that is freely available and easily accessible in Polish plays an important role, both, in the institutional and organizational system of migrant communities and in the personal lives of migrants in the UK. The article presents an outline of the issues related to the Polish-language media in the UK, created by immigrants for immigrants.
