Autor analizuje wzajemne związki między sprawowaniem przez Polskę Prezydencji w Unii Europejskiej a kampanią wyborcza, która miała miejsce w tym samym czasie. Przed objęciem Prezydencji istniały obawy że Polska, tak jak inne kraje grupy CEE może nie podołać wyzwaniom. Obawiano się, że rząd PO będzie nadużywał instrumentów Prezydencji dla partykularnych celów wyborczych. Gwałtowne przyspieszenie kryzysu euro zmieniło przygotowaną przez rząd agendę. Na plan pierwszy wysunęły się zagadnienia które nie były pierwszoplanowe dla polskiego wyborcy. Sprawy europejskie nie stały się tematem debaty wyborczej. Kluczowym celem była poprawa wizerunku Polski w Europie. Poczynania rządu związane ze sprawowaniem Prezydencji nie miały wpływu na wynik wyborów choć dla celów wyborczych okres Prezydencji był wykorzystywany.

Author analyzes mutual relationship between the exercise of the Polish Presidency in the European Union and the election campaign, which took place at the same time. Before taking up his presidency, there were fears that Poland, like other countries in the CEE group can not manage challenges. It was feared that the government will be abused PO Presidency instruments for particular purposes of the election. The rapid acceleration of the euro crisis has changed the agenda prepared by the government. Came to the fore the issues that were not primarily on to the Polish electorate. European issues have not become the subject of the election debate. Government actions related to the exercise of the Presidency did not affect the outcome of elections. The government to some extent used for the presidency election period in order to improve the image of Poland in Europe.
