Artykuł zawiera analizę problemu wynikającego z istnienia przesmyku suwalskiego, jego uwarunkowania polityczno-militarne oraz znaczenie z punktu widzenia Federacji Rosyjskiej i NATO. Autor podsumowuje także potencjał militarny państw znajdujących się w sąsiedztwie tego obszaru, tj. Federacji Rosyjskiej, Białorusi, Polski i Litwy. Autor wykazuje, że sprzeczne interesy mocarstw w tym obszarze o dużym znaczeniu strategicznym mogą doprowadzić do konfliktów i stwarzają zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa przyległych obszarów

The article describes problem of the Suwalki gap, its political and military determinants and its significance for both the Russian Federation and NATO. The author summarizes the military potential and capabilities of Russian Federation, Belarus, Poland and Lithuania in this area. The aim of this study is to show the strategic importance of this region to interested parties. Clashing the interests of states in this part of Europe may lead to conflicts and pose a threat to security, not only to these countries but also to others.
