The article attempts to describe, from the semantic point of view, religious tourism of Polish groups to the Holy Land and to show cultural aspects of this kind of tourism. The number of trips to the Holly Land/Israel/Palestine has been gradually increasing on Polish tourist market. In the last few years, we can notice a substantial increase of not only interest in this destination, but also the increase of variety of itineraries offered to tourists. For years, the dominating kind were the pilgrimage trips, however, in recent times, we can notice the increase of typically tourist trips based on not only visiting “the most important places”, but also on taking advantage of other attractions of the region, such as the sea and the weather. Every trip to Israel/Palestine is closely connected with cultural tourism. This noteworthy subject, because of the national demand, has not been thoroughly analyzed in professional literature so far. Therefore, the attempt to systematize the issue undertaken in the present text can be a starting point to a large-scale analysis of this segment of pilgrimage and religious outbound tourism in Poland.

Religiosity and the phenomenon of pilgrimage connected with it, as well as its visualization are strongly fixed in Slovakia. Four decades (1948 – 1989) of political regime did not manage to erase them from the perception of local citizens. Existence of more than 140 pilgrimage centres of different hierarchy level confirms this fact. These nowadays belong with different level of success among centres of pilgrimage. The aim of the article is to evaluate the thematically relevant literature and differences between pilgrimage tourism and religious tourism. In the application part we are oriented on identification, spatial differentiation and typology of catholic pilgrimage centres. Special attention is dedicated to pilgrimage centres with Cyril and Methodius tradition, which together with national Marian pilgrimage sites belong to the most promising pilgrimage sites in the field of religious tourism development in Slovakia.

The article characterizes the town of Taizé, situated on the territory of France. The town was presented as the center of tourist and pilgrimage activity. A substantial part of the study is the presentation of the methodological issue. The first part presents an outline of the community history and the development of the religious movement. The focus is on Brother Roger who was the founder of the world-famous community. Geographical location and transport proximity of Taizé, play a big role in tourism and pilgrimage activity development, which are also discussed. The community facilities and pilgrimage infrastructure are also characterized. The history and characteristic of the Young Adults Meetings in Taizé, and their participants’ motives are the main subject of the research describe in the article. The group of young people arriving at Taizé, are the main segment of all the visitors in the town. The study, however, does not cover the whole topic of arrivals at Taizé, yet it becomes an important reason to characterize Taizé, as a center of tourist and pilgrimage activity.

The central point of the following study is the issue of cultural-religious tourism. With cultural and religious diversity of India in the background, the author describes the idea of Baha’i religion in the perspective of the architectural assumptions of its temples, so called Houses of Worship. The author briefly describes the history and main assumptions of the youngest monotheist religion, and he also presents the relation between the fundamental assumptions of the faith and its sacred places. The study closes with a trial analysis of the potential influence of the Houses of Worship on cultural tourism development.
