Theology and religious studies have been draw to the context of the natural sciences since the beginning of the twentieth century at the latest. The natural sciences in general and neuroscience in particular, seek to answer the question of the origin and nature of the religious phenomenon apart from the theology and religious studies. Andrew Newberg defined the field of neurotheology and due to his definition presented neurotheology as a partner for theology and religion. The article deals with the method of neurotheology and with its relation to theology and religious studies.

Bezpieczeństwo osobiste i społeczne należy do podstawowych wartości, na których człowiek chce opierać swoją egzystencję. Odnosi się ono do sfer życia osobistego i duchowego. Szczególnie dotkliwy jest niepokój wewnętrzny człowieka, poczucie zagrożenia, niepewność jutra, obawa przed przyszłością. Wartość pokoju, środki do jego zdobycia lub utrzymania są nieustannie analizowane i poddawane krytyce. Zagrożenie brakiem pokoju staje się groźne, zniewalające, prowadzi do wewnętrznego rozdarcia, a w stosunkach społecznych i politycznych prowadzi do wojny. Podstawą poczucia bezpieczeństwa jest zaufanie do drugiego człowieka i społeczności, w której się żyje. Każda ze społeczności ma właściwy sobie zakres oddziaływania i dlatego można postawić te społeczności w zależności od ich hierarchii, poczynając od społeczności międzynarodowych, a kończąc na rodzinie.
