Artykuł omawia wybrane kwestie związane z wzajemnymi zależnościami między państwem i ochroną własności intelektualnej. W pierwszej części przedstawiono te cechy własności intelektualnej, które po pierwsze, sprawiają, iż jest ona unikalnym typem własności, a po drugie, utrudniają lub wręcz uniemożliwiają badania nad własnością intelektualną w skali globalnej. W drugiej części artykułu omówiono zależność między zaostrzaniem reżimu ochrony własności intelektualnej a wzrostem gospodarczym oraz zagadnienia związane z poszukiwaniem optymalnego poziomu ochrony własności intelektualnej. Przedstawiono w nim także zależność między wzrostem gospodarczym, ochroną własności a poziomem dochodu.

The paper focuses on relations between intellectual property protection (IPR) and contemporary state. In first part the characteristic of intellectual property protection is shown, then the paper describes two main areas concerning the relationship between state and IPR protection: searching for optimal level of IPR protection and relationship between the level of income, economic growth and IPR protection.
