Altogether 17 radiocarbon results referring to the Corded Ware culture were obtained. The selection of samples determined the good quality of the dated material from the Late Neolithic graves (mainly human bones). The new series aimed to verify previous establishments including dating of the cemetery in Zerniki Górne in particular. Four important results were obtained from central barrow graves. New dates verify the absolute chronology of the Corded Ware culture in south-eastern Poland. The beginning of the CWC settlement fell probably on years 2800-2700 BC. The final stage should be referred to ca. 2300 BC.

Author considers chronology and social interpretation of graves with glass beads on cemeteries of the late phase of Tarnobrzeg Lusatian culture in south-eastern Poland. He recognizes them as a ritualized reflection of higher social status heritage among some mothers and daughters. Probably it functioned only during a short piece of time at the end of Hallstatt Period and/or at the beginning of La Tene Period of the Iron Age.

The article discusses the origins of aspects of cultural change using the example of archaeological cultures in south-eastern Poland, and with special reference to the meso-region of the lower Wisłok River. This study concludes that it is difficult to identify local roots in a traditional cultural-historical sense for most cultures within the study area. Attention is therefore focused on migrations and other population movements, as well as more complex external impacts on local populations, which are regarded as the main factors stimulating cultural change. In addition, some transformations and formations of new units may be due to local development (evolution) of cultures.
