Pojęcie waloru eklezjalnego (momentum ecclesiale) doczekało się już opracowań, zarówno w zakresie teoretycznym, jak też praktycznym – w odniesieniu do spraw zakończonych aktem beatyfikacji lub kanonizacji. Dlatego w pierwszej części artykułu przypomniane zostały tylko wybrane zagadnienia prawno-kanonizacyjne (I), szczególnie wiążące się z procesami beatyfikacyjnymi Sług Bożych – Roberta Schumana i Alcidego De Gasperiego. Stan tych spraw został przedstawiony w części drugiej (II). Natomiast w ostatniej, wyeksponowano ich znaczenie dla Kościoła i Europy (III). Jednoznacznie zastrzeżono, że ewentualna beatyfikacja nie będzie wobec Unii Europejskiej, czy też jakiejś międzynarodówki partyjnej albo konkretnej partii politycznej, lecz w Kościele i wobec Kościoła (coram Ecclesia). Oczywiście jej przesłanie skierowane zostanie także do wszystkich ludzi dobrej woli. Będzie beatyfikacją/kanonizacją osoby, a nie instytucji, choćby ta osoba ją tworzyła, czy kierowała nią. Będzie beatyfikacją ze względu na udowodnione cnoty osoby, a nie za poszczególne jej decyzje, także polityczne, również te nietrafione, niekiedy interpretowane dziesiątki lat później z błędem ahistoryzmu.

The notion of the importance of the cause for the Church (momentum ecclesiale) was the subject both theoretical and practical studies – regarding the cases completed with the act of beatification or canonization. Therefore, in the first part of the article were characterized only selected aspects of legal and canonization issues (I), particularly involving the beatification processes of a Servants of God – Robert Schuman and Alcide De Gasperi. The status of these cases was presented in the second part (II). Their importance for the Church and Europe was shown in the last part of the article (III). It has been clearly stated that the possible beatification will not concern the European Union, an international party or a particular political party, but it will be in the Church and towards the Church (coram Ecclesia). Of course, their message will be sent also to all people of good will. It will be the beatification/canonization of person, not institution, even if that person created or guided it. It will be the beatification due to the fact of the proven virtues of the person, not for his/her decisions, including the political ones even these unsuccessful, sometimes mistakenly interpreted many years later.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse British policy, and position and their evolution in the context of the activities of Robert Schuman as French Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The general framework of the analysis encompasses the period between 1947, when Robert Schuman was appointedPrime Minister of France, and 1950, when the Schuman Plan was presented. To a limited extent, the analysis is continued until 1954, that is up to the collapse of the European Defence Community project.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza polityki i stanowiska brytyjskiego oraz ich ewolucji, w kontekście aktywności Roberta Schumana, jako premiera i ministra spraw zagranicznych Francji. Ramy analizy należy zakreślić na rok 1947, kiedy to Robert Schuman obejmuje stanowisko premiera Francji. Natomiast jako ichkoniec należy wskazać zasadniczo rok 1950, czyli moment zaprezentowania planu Schumana. Tylko w ograniczonym zakresie analiza jest prowadzona do roku 1954, czyli upadku projektu Europejskiej Wspólnoty Obronnej.
