Po zakończeniu zimnej wojny gwałtownie wzrosło znaczenie zdolności sił zbrojnych do prowadzenia działań ekspedycyjnych, prowadzonych poza terytorium narodowym. Siły zbrojne dla osiągnięcia owej "strategicznej" mobilności wielokrotnie sięgały po transport morski. Co charakterystyczne, większość flot nie dysponuje specjalistycznym tonażem w ilości wystarczającej do zaspokojenia swych potrzeb i często sięga po tonaż z rynku cywilnego. W artykule omówiono podstawowe typy jednostek szczególnie przydatnych do realizacji przewozów wojskowych oraz zasady ich pozyskiwania przez siły morskie.

The importance of armed forces' abilities for conducting expeditionary operations has risen rapidly after the end of Cold War. The armies very often used military sealift to gain strategic mobility behind the national territories. Majority of naval forces does not however enough special values to fulfill all transport requires and very often the merchant vessels are token under military control. The article presents the main types of vessels, which are especially useful for military sealift and the ways of gaining the transport values by the military administrations.
