In 1850, the Catholic dioceses in the Prussian state were being visited by a fraud posing for the papal nuncio and prince Karol Aleksander Altieri. He managed to extort money from the church hierarchs. The fraud was captured and sent to a Roman prison. The European press has published reports on this matter for many months.

W 1850 r. katolickie diecezje na terenie państwa pruskiego odwiedzał oszust podający się za nuncjusza papieskiego i księcia Karola Aleksandra Altieri. Udało mu się wyłudzić znaczne kwoty pieniędzy od kościelnych hierarchów. Oszusta ujęto i odesłano do rzymskiego więzienia. Prasa europejska przez wiele miesięcy publikowała doniesienia dotyczące tej sprawy.
