The article focuses on a feature distinguishing the Slepo parish which, as the only region in Lusatia, developed a children’s festive folk costume separate from the design for adults. The aim of the article is an analysis of the symbolism of the Slepo region’s children’s costume and to point out its unique character when compared to other Sorbian costumes. During the research, ethnographic interview was used alongside observation and the document (primary and secondary sources) analysis method. The documentation allowed for an insight into the state of knowledge regarding the recognition of the research area. The article delivers a cultural reflection about the existence of the children’s costume in the past and current culture of the Sorbs. Additionally, the conditions of disappearance of festive folk children’s costumes are considered as important, on top of the possibility of their revitalization in the modern world. These goals dictated the structure of the article which involves an analysis of the unique children’s costume from Slepo, explains its symbolism and, in the final sections, discusses the phenomenon of the disappearance of folk costumes and the potential of their return in the region.

Artykuł skupia się na jednej z cech wyróżniających parafię Slepo, która jako jedyny region Łużyc wykształciła dla dzieci odrębny od wzoru przeznaczonego dla dorosłych ludowy świąteczny strój dziecięcy. Celem artykułu jest analiza symboliki stroju dziecięcego z regionu Slepo i zwrócenie uwagi na unikalność na tle strojów Serbołużyczan. W badaniu etnograficznym zastosowano wywiad etnograficzny i obserwację oraz metodę analizy dokumentów (źródeł pierwotnych i wtórnych) pozwalających na wgląd w stan wiedzy w rozpoznaniu pola badań. Tekst stanowi kulturoznawczą refleksję nad obecnością świątecznego stroju dziecięcego w dawnej i współczesnej kulturze Serbołużyczan. W artykule za istotne uznano również rozpoznanie uwarunkowań zaniku świątecznych dziecięcych strojów ludowych oraz możliwości ich rewitalizacji w nowoczesnym świecie. Cel wyznaczył strukturę artykułu, który podejmuje analizy uwarunkowań odrębności dziecięcego stroju Slepo, wyjaśnia jego symbolikę i w końcowej części podejmuje dyskusję nad zjawiskiem zaniku strojów ludowych i szansą na ich przywrócenie w regionie.
