In this article are presented situations in which the feeling of dignity of a person is lost or decreases and cannot be restored without professional intervention. This loss is one of the reasons of social exclusion in communities. A person with social issues has no abilities to emphasize her/his own uniqueness and authenticity, s/he stops to progress physically, intellectually and spiritually. In this way these persons enter the field of social worker’s help. In this field of help, one of the main factors in the restoration of human dignity is the social worker her/himself: her/his personality can have a huge influence on his client. The main research question in this study is the following: How should a social worker construct the helping process to help the client to restore her/his human dignity? Research object was the social worker’s help in the process of the restoration of human dignity. Research aim was to reveal the elements of the social worker’s support process that help to restore human dignity. Analysis of the reseach-based conceptual literature was the core method to explore and reveal the answers to research questions. The findings of the analysis highlighted that in situations, when people loose their feeling of dignity within social exclusion then they experience the self-deprecating. In the process of social help a main role is played by social worker’s professional communication with the client: the social worker stimulates the maintenance and restoration of client’s dignity by applying the principle of acting together. This principle is based on moral values, reciprocal responsibility, mutual respect, sincerity, confidentiality and empathy. These components create a trustful environment where, by sustaining client’s free choice and a right of decision, the possibility to achieve client’s openness emerges.

Questions surrounding the fight against poverty and social exclusion have become a global priority. Poverty and its causes are perceived as differences in the economic and social development of each individual continent and country. Social risk management was developed by the World Bank as a specific conceptual framework of social protection strategy and includes prevention, mitigation and the management of social risks. The diverging causes of poverty across the European continent assume a different approach in identifying causes and social risk management. An important aspect of the EU’s social policy is to combat unemployment and social exclusion with the support of the European fund to help the extreme poor and other EU funds, e.g. EQUAL. The appropriate implementation of social risk management in each country is a prerequisite for reducing extreme poverty. Social risk management as a global strategy to combat poverty and extreme poverty is a challenge in the field of education which offers a new range of views and is generating more complex professional competencies in education and new possibilities for university graduates in the labor market.

For refugees, the transition from their home to the host society is especially challenging. In particular, their situation shortly after arrival entails the risk of social exclusion. Based on two case studies, this article reconstructs experiences of exclusion within the integration processes of Cameroonian refugee men and unaccompanied minors in the region of Brandenburg, Germany. What connects the studies are the existential threats of being forced to wait due to having an unclear future and a pattern of being unable to refer to (positive) lived experiences in the local environment. The article approaches these dynamics by applying Alfred Schütz as a helpful analytical heuristic to the findings. The possibilities and pitfalls of the deployed Schützean framework are highlighted considering current methodological developments in the field.

In any society, regardless of its homogeneity and heterogeneity, there are minority groups, or those that require special attention and treatment because of their social and cultural characteristics, physical appearance, or because they have a lifestyle which differs from the dominant group and this causes them to be allocated the social status of minorities. The ongoing transformation of the economy since 1989 is now a major effect which continues to affect economic development. The planned economy and socialist market economy was replaced with the principles of free enterprise and the market mechanism. The market economy is closely tied to the labor market, which we view as the meeting point of labor supply with labor demand, resulting in labor costs - or wages. Position in the labor market is one of the most important factors through which an individual integrates into the social fabric. The aim of this scientific article is to describe the role of the media and outline its potential use in order to achieve changes in behavior and increase education levels in socially marginalized environments and resulting in greater social inclusion.

A family with the modified internal structure creates different life conditions for an adolescent from the conditions in full families. The research run on the junior high school students proves that the families suffer from difficulties more often - the difficulties connected both with the sphere of material existence and the sphere of mutual relationships. The students from incomplete families more frequently experience violent behaviour from parents and more often suffer from loneliness. Such a complicated family situation and accompanying problems cause the students more exposed to depression, difficulties at school and anti-social behaviour.

Rodzina o zmienionej strukturze wewnętrznej stwarza odmienne niż w rodzinach pełnych warunki życia dorastającego dziecka. Badania młodzieży gimnazjalnej dowodzą, że rodziny te częściej przeżywają trudności - zarówno te związane ze sferą bytu materialnego, jak i sferą wzajemnych relacji. Uczniowie z rodzin innych niż pełna nieco częściej doświadczają także zachowań przemocowych ze strony rodziców i częściej przeżywają osamotnienie. Ta skomplikowana sytuacja rodzinna i towarzyszące jej problemy powodują, że uczniowie z rodzin o zmienionej strukturze narażeni są na obniżenie nastroju w postaci depresyjności, trudności w szkole, przejawiają także zachowania aspołeczne.

Author presents collective complaint cases brought by NGO’s against four EU Member States: Bulgaria, France, Italy and Greece during past three years to the European Committee of Social Rights of the Council of Europe (ECSR CoE). The Committee adjudicated those cases found out that the following Roma’s social rights were violated: right to social assistance protected by art. 13 of the Revised European Social Charter (RESC); right of the Roma’s families to social, legal and economic protection guaranteed by art. 16 RESC; right to protection against poverty and social exclusion declared in art. 30 of the RESC; right to housing – art. 31 RESC and right not to be discriminated against on the ground of origin – art. E of the RESC. The above mentioned decisions taken by the European Committee of Social Rights shows that some EU Member States do not cope with their international obligations to integrate Roma’s. Roma’s are disproportionately affected by unemployment, poverty, bad housing, poor health standards, violence and discrimination. Those decisions provides strong evidence that European Committee of Social Rights takes very active part in integration and well being of Roma’s – the largest ethnic minority in Europe.
