With the advancement of information technology and the Internet, new and promising ways of promoting products and services are emerging for modern businesses. Successful promotion and positioning of an enterprise on the Internet is the key to success of its activity. At the same time, the lack of information about a company on the Internet today can even lead to the loss of a regular customer and, as a consequence, the effectiveness of an organization’s activity. Important innovative tools for advertising products and services of modern businesses online are the use of social media. In a broad sense, social media are an Internet service that is intended to disseminate certain information created by users, whereas any consumer of the service may be the author of such information. The emergence and rapid development of social media is due to the fact that the modern consumer is gradually losing confidence in traditional media and is ignoring them. Social media, as a new space for consumers, have their own features that differentiate them from the rest of the media, and accordingly their methods of work are also different from traditional ones. Therefore, the questions of the features of advertising on social media and the evaluation of its effectiveness are relevant and important in the organization of an enterprise’s marketing and in the process of promoting its products or services. The evolution of social media in the modern world has reached such a level that millions of people around the world create, disseminate and promote information about themselves, or about certain things. The concept of customers creating their own content on the Internet has become commonplace today. This has provided new opportunities for researchers to observe, communicate and collect information

Both the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the political and social discussions it forced upon liberal Western democracies on limitations of fundamental rights provide me with the framework for this paper’s topic. I will address it through the question of how German artists – in this case mostly TV actors – with the social Media campaign #allesdichtmachen drew attention to their situation in times of widespread lockdown and contact restrictions in spring 2021. The question will be whether the constraints of free expression felt by these artists, or the public reactions to their voicing a sense of being unheard, can be captured by the vocabulary of censorship in the narrower or broader sense.

The authors have studied Instagram profiles of women’s magazines published in Poland, France and the United Kingdom: Twój Styl, Vogue PL, Marie Claire, Vogue FR, Vogue GB and Stylist. All (464) posts published on Instagram profiles in April 2022 were analyzed. The aim of the research was to show similarities and differences in the ways of communication via Instagram profiles. This paper’s chosen methodology is qualitive and quantitative content analysis and is based on types of posts and their functions and on audience reactions to posted content. The results proved that the similarities emerge between the profiles of magazines that operate in specific media markets – the content and communication is adapted to the country in which the magazine operates. This study contributes to academic literature on the integration of traditional media with new media as a response to media convergence.

This paper deals with legislation and case law regulating social media in the workplace. It analyzes mainly privacy’s limits for selection procedures, working time and dismissals in three Central European states, such as the Czech Republic, Poland or Slovakia. Although there are common general principles like an employees’first and last task is to render services on behalf of his/her employer and do not misuse employer’s devices to private purposes courts’ decision varies. Alike action is considered in one state to be legal, in another illegal.

Realizing the fact that social media has become the mainstream of corporate marketing, this research aims to investigate the use of social media tools by Islamic banks: Facebook and YouTube. To identify and evaluate the social media activities, this research analyses four fully-fledged Islamic banks in Pakistan and seven fully-fledged Islamic banks in the UAE. Since there is a lack of research on the topic of social media marketing by Islamic banks, therefore eight effective features of utilising Facebook in corporate marketing have been extracted from the existing literature. Subsequently, in order to evaluate the eight factors descriptive observation analysis and coding methods were used. The findings deduce that Islamic banks require influential ways to distinguish their social media activities. This research believes that by channelizing such active social mediums aptly, consumer’s concerns about Islamic banking can be addressed. Islamic banks need to realize that these social mediums enable them to offer differentiated services according to the target segment and audience, which will result in greater satisfaction and customer loyalty. Monitoring social media activities of local and global Islamic banks can assist in devising a unique corporate marketing approach for using Facebook and YouTube. There are few existing articles available on social media and Islamic banking topics, therefore this research makes an attempt to fill that gap and brings attention to conduct further study about social media as a corporate marketing communication tool.

Cancer patients face complicated situations from an emotional, social and physical perspective. Hospitals help them through implementing corporate communication initiatives based on social media platforms. This win-win relationship allows hospitals to reinforce their brand reputation. This paper aims to better understand how cancer hospitals manage social media platforms for enhancing their brand as well as their relationships with stakeholders. To do that, we carried out a literature review about corporate communication in health organizations, as well as a content analysis about how the top 100 American cancer hospitals managed their corporate website as well as their corporate profile on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for branding initiatives. Finally, we proposed the Reb Model for Branding Cancer Hospitals. We concluded that thanks to social media, cancer hospitals can reinforce their brand because these platforms allow them to promote human values, improve their internal processes and become a true source of scientific information.

This paper is based on the analysis of 261 video and word posts collected from four popular social media sites on which Chinese tourists shared their consumption-related experiences during and after the trip. It investigates Chinese international tourists’ diverse presentations of self to a broad audience online through explaining their shopping experiences and product reviews. Tourists are expected to balance multiple identities carefully when they project themselves online as consumers-on the one hand, they present themselves as global consumers and trendsetters who are strategic and savvy; while on the other hand, they still need to preserve and even emphasize their national identity as Chinese patriots. Providing the much-lacking qualitative insight, this study enhances our understanding of international tourists and their consumption behaviors, the construction and presentation of a digital self, and how globalization operates at the micro-level.

While offline iterations of the climate activism movement have spanned decades, today online involvement of youth through social media platforms has transformed the landscape of this social movement. Our research considers how youth climate activists utilize social media platforms to create and direct social movement communities towards greater collective action. Our project analyzes narrative framing and linguistic conventions to better understand how youth climate activists utilized Twitter to build community and mobilize followers around their movement. Our project identifies three emergent strategies, used by youth climate activists, that appear effective in engaging activist communities on Twitter. These strategies demonstrate the power of digital culture, and youth culture, in creating a collective identity within a diverse generation. This fusion of digital and physical resistance is an essential component of the youth climate activist strategy and may play a role in the future of emerging social movements.

As the most obvious provision of social media in the individual world, „selfie“ is confronted at a point where self-confidence is increased or lost. Nowadays, the use of social media starts at a very early age, and self-efficacy beliefs are also developing at an early age. However, the madness of selfie is becoming more of an „infantilized“ action. Thus, it can be argued that it functions as a counterfeit of the self and serves as a mirror in the individual’s world. It is also true that this „new or pseudo mirror“, which shows us both to ourselves and to others, also raises concerns about perceptual development, curiosity and visibility in the era of selfdiscovery throughout the developmental process. The concept of self-reflection and „selfie“ in its social media term emerges at a point where the individual’s internal communication is broken. It brings a „dual-dyadic“ concept on one hand and a „triad theory“ on the other. The study aims to analyze „selfie“ madness in social media, providing examples and assumptions within the framework of these theoretical discussions. The study aims to add new dimensions to the concept of self portrayals of individuals within national and international examples in the light of current media scrutiny.

This study focuses on the presentation and interpretation of scientific information and data by Slovak creators on the social platform Instagram. Media content presented on social media often becomes problematic, as popular science posts are more in an entertaining than scientific form. It happens that popular science content is presented inaccurately, without deeper context. In addition, scientific misinformation and misleading information appears, which can pose a danger to audience members who trust such information. Science journalism has found its place not only in traditional media, but also on social media platforms, where problematic information on scientific topics goes viral and achieves a high level of user interaction. In an unregulated or under-regulated social networking environment, it is also more difficult for users to discern the credibility and relevance of the information presented, especially when referring to existing scientific studies or authorities. However, data from these sources may be taken out of context, interpreted in a misleading way or accompanied by completely fabricated or distorted conclusions. Such false scientific content undermines confidence in objective science journalism and discredits the work of science journalists. Several digital tools are now available that can help readers distinguish real scientific information from false information. Critical thinking, media literacy and scientific literacy are key skills that can be used to detect manipulative techniques and navigate the issue of false media content. In this paper, we therefore clarify the importance of media, scientific and information literacy skills to help identify misinformation in media content related to science and research.

The new media ecology has resulted in shifts in news content. The audience metrics that provide data about the preferences, expectations, and habits of the audiences based on clicks bring about the creation of new strategies and business models to increase income. The theory of the political economy of media says that just as economic relationships shape the whole of society, they also affect the production, distribution, and consumption of media content, forming the theoretical infrastructure of this study. On this basis, the study aims to reveal how the news content of Northern Cyprus’ internet newspapers is shaped according to the number of clicks. The social media pages of four online newspapers in North Cyprus were analyzed using the content analysis method. On this basis, the aim of this article is to reveal how shifts occur in news content depending on consumer participation, social media, and clicks that have emerged with the development of internet technology. Content analysis was conducted considering the multimedia infrastructure of Internet journalism, and the coding was done by taking different media formats such as news text, video, and photography. The results show that the production phase, topic, and content of the news are affected by audience interaction data.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak has been associated with many psychological and social effects, followed by a rise of fake news and false information about the condition. This study's main aim was to deeply understand people’s experiences and precise opinions about social media information on COVID-19. This qualitative study was conducted to examine the COVID-19 social media literacy using the content analysis. Participants in the study were 20 people from Hamadan Province, Iran. Data were analyzed using the MAXQDA software version 2010. Considering the results for the volume of social media literature about COVID-19, 21 subcategories and five categories were obtained. The five categories included purpose with three subcategories such as „sales for economic gain“, constructedness with five subcategories such as profiteering „advertising companies“, audience with one subcategory such as „all people“, format with five subcategories such as „highlighting the disease consequences“, and lifestyles with seven subcategories such as „drinking alcohol“. Familiarity with individuals' views based on culture and context for designing and planning educational literacy programs for media skills and competence in the new media age for distinguishing between fake and credible COVID-19 media messages and critically evaluating media content for all people is essentialespecially in the new media infodemic ecosystem. The themes obtained in the study can be used for designing educational interventions and appropriate assessment tools as well as promoting health media literacy in the field.

In India, in the last year alone, over 30 people have died due to child kidnapping rumors spread on social media, specifically WhatsApp. India’s access to the internet shot up in the recent years with the entry of Reliance Jio which made data plans affordable and therefore accessible. WhatsApp has been the most frequently downloaded application. As the country gears up for an important election, the spread of disinformation has accelerated. The right-wing ruling party has claimed that it has over 3 million people in its WhatsApp groups. A recent study by BBC has shown that in the country, most of the disinformation has been spread by the right wing. Call it propaganda, disinformation or plain fake news, false or wrong information has become a part of the political process in India. Moreover, the Indian media no longer seem to be standing up to the government; in the last few years, it has generally toed the government line. The reasons are many, including corporate ownership, regressive laws, and a complete bypass of the media by the powers. The Prime Minister has spoken only to a few selected media houses and has never been asked any tough questions in his five-year tenure. Furthermore, the media has been completely sidelined by this government by it going to the public, directly through social media. All of this has produced a very turgid and messy information situation. With the government also interfering in education, it has become all the more difficult for most educators to introduce critical thinking courses in the country, even though various efforts have been made by Google News Initiative, Facebook and BBC Schools to introduce tools to debunk false information.

Przedstawia on kwestię bezpieczeństwa narodowego jako wygrywającą kartę przeciwko swoim przeciwnikom, aby zdobyć poparcie skrajnie prawicowego elektoratu w Izraelu. Tweety Obamy, który był pierwszy prezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych, wykorzystującym media społecznościowe, tworzą warstwę porównawczą. Przedstawiono prezydenckiego Twittera, służącego zdobyciu poparcia amerykańskiego elektoratu w wyborach prezydenckich w 2008 i 2012 r. Zwycięstwo zawdzięczał on jednak prezentowaniu treści ekonomicznych i społecznych.

This article presents the history of the use of social media in the election campaigns of politicians from the United States and Israel as a modern phenomenon in the current era due to technological changes in the global media. My article answers the research question: is there a difference in the strategy of using Twitter between Netanyahu and Obama, and what is this difference? It should be noted that many articles have dealt with social networks and the political use of social networks, but as far as I know, the topic of comparison and attempt to find differences in political campaigns between two leaders from the United States and Israel has not yet been investigated, and this is the goal of the article, I will focus on presenting data and information examining the allegations appearing in the official Twitter account of former Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding security issues and the Iranian threat expressed in his Twitter tweets, so that he presents himself as “responsible for Israel and its citizens.” So he constantly presents the issue of national security as a winning card against his opponents in order to win the support of the far right electorate in Israel. Compared to the tweets of Obama the first president of the United States who used social media and especially presidential Twitter to win in support of the American electorate in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections and to win their economic and social contribution.

Advertising literacy is a set of knowledge, abilities and skills enabling one to identify and comprehend advertised messages. The theoretical part of the paper brings various points of view on advertising literacy (which we comprehend to be an element of media literacy), its classification and basic levels. The aim of the paper is to identify the level of advertising literacy among adolescents. The research has been conducted on a sample of 348 youngsters aged 13 to 17 years old. The authors of the paper investigated the influence of age on advertising literacy in the process of identifying intent of advertisement on the social network Instagram utilising new formats of digital communication such as reels, stories and memes. The authors of the paper tend to admit that the age of respondents may have an influence on adolescents’ advertising literacy but to finally claim so, further research with respondents from larger age groups would have to be conducted.

The article deals with the Igers’ community, a community of mobile photography and Instagram fans, which has been active since 2011 all over the world. The purpose of this article is to show how the project was created, how it is being realized, and how it affects both the community, its social activities and marketing. The key theme of the article is how this community works. The basic question is how this is taking place, despite the fat that you cannot create gropups on Instagram. An analysis of profiles and blogs maintained by local groups was used in the study which resulted in a description of their activities, both globally and locally, and showing that even in a community based on social media, real contact is equally important.
