Introduction: A range of skills and competences are needed to take care of a sick person, and social competences seem to be as important as professional competences in relations with the patient. Good relations of health service workers with a patient, to a large extent, determine the quality and effectiveness of treatment. Purpose: To determine the level of social competences of health service workers. Materials and methods: Forty health service workers - doctors, nurses, and midwives - were included in the study. We used the Social Competence Questionnaire (SCQ). Results: The majority of the subjects demonstrated an average increase in the competences conditioning effective action in intimate situations, situations of social exposure, and situations requiring assertiveness. Conclusions: Given the importance of social competences in the diagnosis process, treatment, and occupational functioning of health service workers, it seems appropriate to improve and develop them.

Celem niniejszego opracowania jest prezentacja możliwości zastosowania idei gier edukacyjnych jako narzędzi kształtowania kompetencji społecznych. Kompetencje społeczne zostały zidentyfikowane jako kluczowe elementy powodzenia absolwentów na rynku pracy. Projektując program kształcenia na kierunku Zarządzania WSEI w Krakowie poszukiwano innowacyjnego podejścia stymulującego w większym zakresie studentów do świadomego rozwijania swoich społecznych i budowania stabilnych podwalin pod rozwój zawodowy przez całe życie. Zwrócono się w kierunku idei i mechanizmów gier edukacyjnych i wykorzystano je do kształtowania kierunku studiów. W artykule zaprezentowano wnioski z przeglądu piśmiennictwa naukowego z zakresu gier edukacyjnych, a także zaprezentowano koncepcję programu kształcenia, do którego wykorzystane zostaną różne modele i typy gier edukacyjnych. Wprowadzą one do metod dydaktycznych urozmaicenie, dzięki któremu ma szansę wzrosnąć poziom kształcenia kompetencji społecznych. (abstrakt autora)

Social competencies play an important role in the life of individual persons as well as broader community. They are of special importance for functioning of various organizations. Developing social competencies constitutes an inherent element of an educational process at higher education institutions and is significantfor their alumni-future employees or entrepreneurs. Main aim of the paper is to present opportunities of the application of the concept of educational game as an instrument of social competencies development on the example of School of Economics and Computer Science in Cracow. To obtain employment university graduate is obliged to develop, aside from professional skills, a capital of social and stress-coping competencies. To achieve these, transgressive behavior is required. The objective of the study was to present levels of transgressive behavior, social competences, styles of coping with stress and their mutual relations among university students. Eighty-four students (men and women) of Opole University were surveyed. Correlations between social competencies and transgressive behavior were observed i.e. social exposition effectiveness correlated with assertiveness and task-oriented style of coping. Gender differences were also observed i.e. male students were more assertive than females students. Results suggest that there is a need for the increase of levels the individual abilities in order to increase the chance to obtain employment.
