Es werden polnische Speisenamen und ihre Übersetzungsmöglichkeiten im Deutschen präsentiert. Die Autorinnen weisen auf die Rolle der kulturellen Kompetenz bei der Übersetzung der Realienbezeichnungen.

This text presents a translation analysis of the so called „realia”, which are part of culinary names rendered from Polish into German. The basis consists of the Polish culinary names which can be found on genuine menus and their translation found on Internet websites. The renditions proposed on the menus are compared with their equivalents provided in bilingual dictionaries. The point of departure for the analysis is Koller (2004). Due to the great diversity of strategies applied in the translation of culinary names, it is possible to indicate those which ought to be utilized in the translation of realia. The conducted analysis highlights the vital aspects and role of cultural competence in translation and translator education.

W tekście prezentujemy analizę tłumaczeń tzw. „realiów” będących elementem nazw kulinarnych z języka polskiego na język niemiecki. Podstawę analizy stanowią polskie nazwy potraw pochodzące z autentycznych kart dań oraz tłumaczeń zawartych na stronach internetowych. Zaproponowane w kartach dań tłumaczenia są konfrontowane z ekwiwalentami podanymi w opracowaniach leksykograficznych. Punkt wyjścia do analizy strategii stanowi opracowanie Koller’a (2004). Ze względu na różnorodność strategii zastosowanych w tłumaczeniu możliwe jest wskazanie na te strategie, które w przypadku tłumaczenia realiów powinny znaleźć swoje zastosowanie. Przeprowadzona analiza wskazuje na istotne aspekty i rolę kompetencji kulturowej w tłumaczeniu oraz kształceniu tłumaczy.
