The article concerns the processes of change in the two clubs competing in football and volleyball, which followed the period of dynamic growth. In the case of the football club investigation period covers the years 2004-2012, and the club volleyball are the years of 1999-2012. The development of these organizations expressed not only through increased sports performance, but also through formal and legal changes, involving the evolution from associations to join-stock companies. These phenomena affect the development of the organizational structure and the appearance of new jobs. The purpose of this article is to present the changes in sports clubs in the managing structure and tasks of the key players on the example of men's soccer and women's volleyball. The methods have been applied are the interview and document analysis. The respondents were longterm employees of clubs, and examined documents were job descriptions of employees. The results show the appearance of many new jobs and expanding existing tasks. Additionally strong impact on the surveyed organizations of competitions in which the team participated and organizational culture of the owners, was observed. The study concludes that all clubs seeking to develop high-quality sports products should consciously optimize their structure and shape the attitudes of employees readiness to change and look for employees with the highest competence, effectively performing the organizational and management tasks. This situation is consistent with trends in sports organizations in the world, which creates favorable conditions for the development of professional sport in Poland.

Celem artykułu jest ocena wpływu procesów internacjonalizacji sportu na funkcjonowanie profesjonalnych klubów sportowych. W opracowaniu przyjęto bowiem założenie, iż działalność klubów sportowych silnie i w zróżnicowany sposób ulega wpływom procesów internacjonalizacji sportu. Przedstawiono zatem specyfikę działalności klubu sportowego, dokonano identyfikacji i systematyzacji przejawów umiędzynarodowienia sportu, a także wskazano wiele przesłanek świadczących o wpływie internacjonalizacji sportu na działalność klubów sportowych. Podstawę prowadzonych w ramach artykułu rozważań stanowią studia literatury z zakresu międzynarodowych stosunków gospodarczych i marketingu sportowego. Studium uzupełniono o wnioski płynące z obserwacji działalności klubów sportowych. Prowadzone rozważania pozwoliły potwierdzić przyjęte w referacie założenie badawcze. Wpływ internacjonalizacji sportu na działalność profesjonalnych klubów sportowych jest tak silny, iż de facto warunkuje ich przetrwanie. Zahamowanie procesów internacjonalizacji mogłoby skutkować ograniczeniem dostępu klubów sportowych do zagranicznych zasobów finansowych, rzeczowych i ludzkich, a co więcej mogłoby uniemożliwić wykorzystanie potencjału drzemiącego w rynkach zagranicznych.

The aim of the article is to appraise the influence of processes connected with the sport’s internationalization on the activity of professional sports clubs. In the paper, the activity of sports clubs is assumed to be highly and variously influenced by the processes connected with sport’s internationalization. The study presents the character of the activity of sports club and the authors identified and systematized the symptoms of the sport’s internationalization, as well as they presented a wide range of premises connected with the influence of this process on the activity of sports clubs. The knowledge about issues which were taken under consideration in the article are based on the research literature connected with international economic relations and sport marketing. The study was completed with conclusions deduced from the observation of the activity of sports clubs. Conducted literature review confirms the assumption, about strong influence of the sport’s internationalization on the activity of professional sports. The inhibition of internationalization processes could limit the access of sports clubs to foreign financial, physical and human resources, and make impossible to exploit the potential of foreign markets.

For over 50 years the German sports subject compete with each other in the 1. Bundesliga. This competition is no longer limited only to sport aspect, but more and more it takes economic dimension. In 1998-2013 Sustainable Football Enterprise led to the situation where their combined turnover was 2 bln EUR, own capital 778.8 mln EUR, and the number of created jobs was 28 000. A good example of the transformation that those has gone through was the story of Borussia Dortmund. After transformation into a limited partnership it was decided to start the activity on the stock market, which resulted in gaining 143 mln EUR of capital. In case on this club focusing only on the sport dimension nearly led to bankruptcy. The implementation of the rescue plan associated with activity diversification, as well as the intense new sources of funding in 2011-2013, led to both success in sports and economic field.
