Presentation of the current relevance of franciscan charisma in Pope Francis’ preaching is the aim of this article. The franciscan spirituality and the Pope Bergoglio’s teaching are very extensive issues. Indentification of all the common points would require more comprehensive study. In the paper there was made a summary of the most important facts and statements of Pope that confirms his fascination with Saint Francis from Assisi. The fact that living 800 years after the saint’s death, the Pope chooses St. Francis for his patron and often reminds his person and his words, showing it as a valuable guidance for a comtemporary man, indicates constant relevance of franciscan charizma.

Artykuł stawia sobie za cel ukazanie aktualności charyzmatu franciszkańskiego w nauczaniu papieża Franciszka. Zarówno duchowość franciszkańska, jak i nauczanie papieża Bergoglio stanowią zagadnienia bardzo obszerne. Wskazanie wszystkich punktów wspólnych wymagałoby o wiele obszerniejszego opracowania. W tekście dokonano zestawienia najistotniejszych faktów i wypowiedzi papieża, które potwierdzają jego fascynację osobą św. Franciszka z Asyżu. Fakt, iż papież, żyjący 800 lat od czasów posługi św. Franciszka, obiera go jako patrona, wielokrotnie przywołuje jego osobę i słowa, ukazując je jako cenną wskazówkę dla współczesnego człowieka, świadczy o niezmiennej aktualności charyzmatu franciszkańskiego.

This study aims at showing the St. Francis from Assisi’s Third Regular Order Nuns‘ historical outline in Poland. At the beginning, the author presented a short genesis of the Convent, and next he described the first foundation in Cracow, as well as the other foundations and spiritual life of the sisters. The last part of the article shows the history of the three Observants’ convents in Łódź archidiocese.
