Działania Kościoła katolickiego w obronie rekolekcji szkolnych w latach 50. ubiegłego wieku i ich ocena w świetle dokumentów partyjno-państwowych

The article is an attempt to analyse the actions taken by the Catholic Church in defence of school retreats and to assess their effectiveness in the light of documents from the party-state authorities. Despite the agreement signed with the Church in 1950, the authorities used numerous mechanisms and means to combat the teaching of religion and its manifestations in and outside school. In defence of school retreats, priests carried out extensive information campaigns about the right of young people to have days off to take retreats, also using pulpits and parish communitiesfor this purpose, adapted the hours of meetings with pupils to their school timetables and made their form more attractive. The measures taken by the Church proved effective, so the authorities secularised schooling by law in 1961.

Artykuł stanowi próbę analizy działań podjętych przez Kościół katolicki w obronie rekolekcji szkolnych oraz oceny ich skuteczności w świetle dokumentów władz partyjno-państwowych. Mimo podpisanego porozumienia z Kościołem w 1950 r. władze stosowały liczne mechanizmy i środki do walki z nauczaniem religii i jej przejawami w szkole i poza nią. W obronie rekolekcji szkolnych księża przeprowadzili szerokie akcje informacyjne o prawie młodzieży do dni wolnych na odbycie rekolekcji, wykorzystując w tym celu także ambony, angażując wspólnoty parafialne, dostosowując godziny spotkań z uczniami do planów ich zajęć szkolnych, a także uatrakcyjniając ich formę. Działania podjęte przez Kościół okazały się skuteczne, dlatego władza zlaicyzowała szkolnictwo na mocy ustawy w 1961 r.
