The new political and social situation after 1989 in Poland brought challenges requiring reflection and action by the Church. Apart from the positive effects of the transformation, gaining freedom and democratic freedoms, there appeared at the same time destructive and demoralising phenomena. Negative effects have primarily affected the family - the foundation of every society and nation. The description of pastoral plans concerning marriages and families contained in the documents of the Church in Poland shows the care and scope of efforts in this area. The teaching of Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński on marriage and family is an important point of reference. The message addressed to families and to all preachers of the gospel remains valid and unchanged in its purpose, assumes greater specialization and complexity of education and pastoral actions. The Church invariably points to a correct conception of the family and reminds us of its fundamental value.

W Polsce, po 1989 roku, nowa sytuacja polityczno-społeczna przyniosła wyzwania wymagające refleksji oraz podjęcia przez Kościół nowych działań. Oprócz pozytywnych skutków transformacji, uzyskania wolności i swobód demokratycznych, równolegle pojawiły się zjawiska destrukcyjne oraz demoralizujące, których negatywne skutki dotknęły przede wszystkim rodzinę – fundament każdego społeczeństwa i narodu. Opis planów pastoralnych, dotyczących małżeństw i rodzin, zawartych w dokumentach Kościoła w Polsce, ukazuje troskę oraz zakres pracy i starań w tym obszarze. Nauczanie Stefana kard. Wyszyńskiego na temat małżeństwa i rodziny jest ważnym punktem odniesienia. Przesłanie skierowane do rodzin i wszystkich głoszących Ewangelię pozostaje aktualne i niezmienne w swym celu, zakłada większą specjalizację oraz złożoność edukacji i oddziaływań pastoralnych. Kościół ukazuje niezmiennie prawidłowy model rodziny oraz przypomina o jej fundamentalnej wartości.

The paper seeks to work out in a synthetic manner the basic views of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński on the issues concerning the foundations of the Catholic social doctrine. The author puts forward and justifies a thesis about a personalistic dimension of the Catholic social doctrine according to Cardinal Wyszyński. He shows the main elements of the teaching of the Primate of the Millennium, such as: human rights, the problems of marriage and family, national issues, the idea of a moral-social order, the problems of labour, the right to private property. The paper points to the main foundations and sources of the teaching of Primate Wyszyński, i.e. the Bible, the Magisterium of the Church, the encyclicals of Pope John Paul II.

The Blessed Cardinal lost his mother at the age of nine, since then his Mother became the Motherland for which he served, loved and fought for – he used love to every neighbour to fight and he fought for every one of them. He experienced the atrocities of the war and the Soviet regime, his beloved Homeland deprived him of his freedom, and he arranged the Jasna Góra Vows for her, which became the first step on the way to liberate the homeland, nation and Polish family, for which Cardinal Wyszyński was the undisputed father.

Błogosławiony Kardynał stracił matkę w wieku 9 lat, od tego czasu jego Matką stała się Ojczyzna, dla której służył, którą kochał i o którą walczył – walczył miłością do każdego bliźniego i o każdego bliźniego.
