The aim of the paper was to identify and evaluate the changes on the labour market in Poland in the context of the sustainable development idea practice. For this analysis the author used the indicators of sustainable development regarding the access to labour market and employment calculated by Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS). The level of sustainable development was estimated using synthetic measure constructed with TOPSIS method. It was stated that in the period 2006-2016 most of the sustainable development indicators regarding labour market improved. The most significant progress was noticed in pomorskie and lubuskie voivodships. In contrast, Eastern Poland faced relatively least favourable changes. Moreover, territorial cohesion improved.

In this paper, from many multi-criteria models in making decision, a classical technique for order preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach has been described. This method is based on the concept that alternative should be selected which have the shortest and the farthest distance from the negative solution. Some of the advantages of TOPSIS methods are the following; simplicity, rationality comprehensible concept, good computational efficiently and ability to measure the relative performance for each alternative in a simple mathematical form. The TOPSIS algorithm to determine the most preferable choice among all possible choices is presented in the case when we have exact, as well interval data. Finally, an example is shown as application of this procedure in negotiation. By implementing TOPSIS algorithm we can order offers in buyer-seller transaction. The paper is organized in the following way. The Introduction presents a short overview of the decision making steps as well MCDM techniques. The details of the proposed TOPSIS method with exact and interval data are given in Section 2. An application of this approach is described in Section 3 to order offers in buyer-seller transaction. Finally, the last Section contains some concluding remarks and possible perspectives.

The main target of the study was to assess the financial situation of the food industry sectors in Poland in 2010 using a synthetic meter constructed with TOPSIS method. The analysis was based on unpublished statistical data from the Central Statistical Office. The research showed that the best financial situation characterized the industries that based their activities on animal products processing, secondary processing and manufacturing stimulants. These industries were characterized by the highest level of return on equity and a high use of foreign capital in financing economic activity. The lowest values of the synthetic meter, as well as the weakest financial condition, appeared in sectors whose business was based on crop production, e.g. low-processed products. They were characterized by low profitability and low involvement of foreign capital in financing of activities. In this group there were also difficulties with the settlement of liabilities.

The aim of the paper was to assess the standard of living of Polish households in 2006 according to their size and division into socio-economic categories. To measure it a synthetic indicator based on the TOPSIS method was used. The conducted analysis revealed significant differences in the standard of living of individual households. The highest standard of living characterised the households of self-employed persons, which had up to five members, and the households of employed persons, which had not more than two members. In turn, the lowest standard of living was observed in the two-member households of farmers and in the many-member households of retired persons and disability pensioners. Significant disparities in the level of satisfaction of needs relating to individual goods and services may cause differences in the behaviour of individuals, lead to social marginalisation and the emergence of pathological groups that have no chances for proper participation in social life.
