There were some fragments of glass objects found during surface surveys of the southern part of Trenčín Basin in the second half of 1990´s. The finds from Trenčianska Turná and Trenčianske Stankovce may come probably from the end of the middle ages or the beginning of modern time. The finds from Soblahov and Mníchova Lehota cannot be datable without analyses, but we can exclude their recent origin.

The present paper is dedicated to the analysis of archaeological situations, settlement features and archaeological material from Trenčín-Zlatovce site, which were archaeologically excavated in 2017. The emphasis is on a detailed examination of the pottery, which includes wheel-made pottery in addition to the usual hand-formed vessels. Ceramics with an admixture of graphite are also represented. The assemblage thus represents rather exceptional evidence of the material culture from the Late Hallstatt period (HaD2 – HaD3). Therefore, it provides, on the one hand, evidence of the survival of older cultural traditions of the Lusatian culture and, on the other hand, indications of the diffusion of new or foreign technological elements in this period.

Hundreds of fragmentary notated manuscripts have survived in the territory of Slovakia. Medieval fragments from the eleventh to the fifteenth centuries are deposited in several Slovak archives, libraries, and museums. One of the archives that house a large number of notated fragments is the State Archive in Trenčín. During our music historical field research in this archive, we processed twenty-two notated medieval manuscripts in total. We analysed eleven fragments of antiphonaries, eight graduals, one missal, one breviary, and one fragment whose contents we did not manage to identify because it was severely damaged. Sixteen fragments are notated in Bohemian notation, which makes the State Archive in Trenčín the archive with the largest number of medieval fragments with this system of notation. This study aims for an in depth musical and liturgical analysis of the medieval office repertoire recorded in the fragments, identified in an interdisciplinary codicological palaeographic and music-palaeographic research to have belonged to a single liturgical codex which has unfortunately not survived in its entirety.

The author of the study deals with the subsidiary district of Trenčín and allocation into the battalions of the 71st infantry regiment, which was a part of the Austrian Imperial Army in Veneto in 1860-1866. He states that a military and logistic background originated in Trenčín, used for supplementing the battalions with the crew from the county of Trenčín, Turiec and Orava. Within the Rothkirch Brigade, the battalions from Veneto were reassigned to the unit of Benedek’s Northern Army. The brigade was covering the retreat of the Austrian forces, with open battles bursting at Tovačov, where the Trenčín regiment recorded high losses. In the 1870’s, the regiment consisted of six battalions included in the so called line (Linien-Regiment) and reserve (Reserve-Regiment) regiment. The occupation of Bosna in 1878 was attended by the soldiers from the reserve regiment and the pacification of the Bosna resistance (1879-1882) was contributed significantly by the soldiers of the 71st infantry regiment.

The senators belonged to the then elite population in Hungarian free royal cities. They marked by especially high-standard property situation, the interests of the municipal administration, building and a kinship “networks”. One of them was Ján Bobocký, whose personality and family status is presented in the following study, primarily through view of everyday life and his participation in the city administration. Unique and brilliant documents of funerary practices like hatchments clearly constitute important people whose identification and description in relation to Ján Bobocký is a part of the article.

The specifics of the historical land use of the northern portion of the Trenčianská basin and the adjacent slopes in the White Carpathians foothills included viniculture and fish pond cultivation from the mid-16th century. The presence of vineyards and a pond in the territory reflect historical landscape structures which have survived in a fragment of specific archetypes of the cultural landscape. Its historical memory can be reconstructed for example by modeling the historical land use on a vertical cut through tessera. The paper deals with the historicalgeographic aspects of viniculture and fish pond cultivation in the researched territory, or specifically the explanation of the natural, cultural and social driving forces which permanently influenced the landscape picture of the White Carpathians foothills and the basin highlands.

During source research in 2021, a medieval notated fragment was discovered, which currently forms the upper cover of a book of accounts, Regestum pecuniarum ecclesiae xendochii et orphanorum, of 1607. The State Archive in Trenčín holds a relatively large number of extant medieval notated manuscripts. In total, the archive has preserved twenty-two, along with the newly discovered fragment twenty-three, notated manuscript fragments, seventeen of which contain Bohemian notation. Among the fragments notated with Bohemian notation, six fragments were identified as having originated from a single, today unfortunately incomplete, liturgical codex. The newly discovered fragment also belongs to this group. The aim of this study is the musical-liturgical and music-palaeographic analysis of this newly discovered fragment.

The urban elite that was unquestionably formed by the mayors and other leading representatives of the municipal administration and intellectuals, was a characteristic part of any modern free royal town in the Kingdom of Hungary. This distinctive elite community was based on their own laws. Purpose was to maintain the social status, influence and to keep urban authorities that managed the city. By analysing of the background of five detailed profiles of Trenčín’s mayors in 17th century, their different origin, religion and external circumstances, brings new facts of life in cities and present less known aspects of our history.
