The World Bank, as a part of United Nations Organization and one of the global financial institutions, lends money to the less developed countries. One of the main areas of its activity is social policy, including health, nutrition and population (HNP sector). The World Bank gives loans for HNP to all regions of the world, especially to Latin America and Caribbean, South Asia and Sub-Saharian Africa. Moreover, the World Bank creates and implements HNP strategy and cooperates with global and regional institutions and foundations to achieve Millennium Development Goals. Since 1970, the World Bank has transferred the amount of 42 bln USD to HNP sector, which is 5% of its granted loans, but effectiveness of those projects is the lowest of all sectors supported by this global organization.
