W roku 2020 minęła setna rocznica urodzin profesora Tomasza Cieszyńskiego. W 1956 r. Tomasz Cieszyński (syn światowej sławy stomatologa Antoniego Cieszyńskiego) opatentował echosondę do badania struktur serca (echokardiografia wewnątrzsercowa). W pracy przedstawiono losy profesora Tomasza Cieszyńskiego oraz jego dokonania w medycynie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kardiologii.

The year 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tomasz Cieszyński. In 1956, Tomasz Cieszyński (the son of a world renowned dentist, Professor Antoni Cieszyński) patented an original idea of using a device allowing for an assessment of heart structures, i.e. an echosounder placed inside the heart (intracardiac echocardiography). The paper presents the history of life of Professor Tomasz Cieszyński as well as his achievements in the fields of medicine, especially in cardiology.
