Wpływ funduszy unijnych na sezon turystyczny na przykładzie krajów basenu morza śródziemnego

Europa, która od wielu lat zajmuje czołowe miejsca na listach najchętniej odwiedzanych destynacji turystycznych, zmaga się z problemem sezonowości szczególnie w krajach basenu Morza Śródziemnego, które oferują produkty stricte związane z turystyką wypoczynkową. Unia Europejska, dostrzegając globalne korzyści z rozwoju branży turystyczno-hotelarskiej, dofinansowuje programy, które w pośredni lub bezpośredni sposób przyczyniają się do wzrostu liczby turystów poza okresem wakacyjnym. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie wpływu funduszy unijnych na wzrost ruchu turystycznego w tzw. martwym sezonie w krajach basenu Morza Śródziemnego oraz zidentyfikowanie krajów, które aktywnie uczestniczą w realizacji tych projektów. W artykule przeprowadzono badanie ruchu turystycznego w krajach Unii Europejskiej w latach 2010- 2012 na podstawie danych statystycznych opracowanych przez UN WTO oraz dokonano przeglądu projektów finansowanych z funduszy unijnych, które przyczyniły się do wzrostu ruchu turystycznego i poprawy koniunktury gospodarczej w państwach śródziemnomorskich.

Europe, which has been at the top of the list of the most popular tourist destinations for many years, struggles with seasonality, especially in Mediterranean countries, which mostly offer products connected with leisure tourism. The European Union, having noticed global benefits from the development of tourist trade, funds programmes which induce direct or indirect growth of foreign tourists arrivals in low season. The aim of this paper is to present the economic impact of the European Union Funds on the surge in tour-ism during low season in Mediterranean countries, as well as indentifying countries, which are most active in realizing these projects. In the paper tourism in the European Union countries was examined with reference to the years between 2010 and 2012, and it was based on UN WTO data. Furthermore, this paper reviews the projects which caused in-crease in foreign toursim arrival and economic prosperity in Mediterranean countries.
