On 9 May 1974, the group of priests met in the Theological Seminary in Paradyż in order to establish their own scholarly Theological Society, which lasted less than a year. However, since creating the branch of the Polish Theological Society in Szczecin, this initiative has been the only one in the area under investigation. The article focuses on the activities aimed at deepening the theological formation of the Gorzów clergy until the mid-1970s. And the main places where priests could familarise themselves with the contemporary theological trends were as follows: the Theological Seminary in Gorzów, pastoral conventions, regional conferences and deanery congregations. The young diocese also made an effort to organize a distance study course for priests in collaboration with the Catholic University of Lublin and Warsaw Theological Academy. In addition, the Theological Society of Gorzów, despite the fact that it lasted only about a year, played a special role in these kinds of activities. The paper also presents the statute of the society as well as its activity. The Theological Society did not survive the test of time. The thing it left is the scholarly yearbook titled Studia Paradyskie, published in the diocese of Zielona Góra and Gorzów. The initiative undertaken ten years after the last meeting of the scholars was, however, a response to one of the demands of the Theological Society of Gorzów.
