This article is a synthesis and comparison of changes occurring in the rites of Holy Week that took place in the 20th century. It summarizes, in a short form, the reforms that were started by Pope Pius XII, and were ended with the last typical edition of liturgical books released after the Second Vatican Council. The Article focuses on analyzing liturgical texts from this time period. Comparing ceremonies contained in the liturgical text of this period showcases the process of their simplification which had the distinct purpose of helping the faithful obtain deeper and more active participation in the ceremonies. Emphasising the role of lay people in the liturgy as well as the gradual increase in the incorporation of vernacular languages. This contributed to the results intended by the reforms. Artykuł jest syntezą i porównaniem zmian zachodzących w obrzędach Wielkiego Tygodnia na przestrzeni XX w. w krótkiej formie podsumowuje on reformy zapoczątkowane przez Papieża Piusa XII, a zakończone wraz z wydaniem ostatnich edycji typicznych ksiąg po reformie Soboru Watykańskiego II. Artykuł bazuje na analizie tekstów liturgicznych z wyznaczonego okresu. Porównanie obrzędów zawartych w księgach liturgicznych tego okresu wskazało na proces upraszczania obrzędów, który miał pomóc wiernym w głębokim, czynnym i owocnym udziale w celebracjach tych dni. Podkreślenie roli świeckich w liturgii, a także stopniowe zwiększanie użycia języków narodowych przyczyniło się do osiągnięcia zamierzonych przez reformę celów. Słowa kluczowe:

This article presents the Polish pre-Tridentine books for the celebration of the Divine Office originating in Benedictine monasteries and the texts of the responsories’ matutinum contained within them intended for consecutive days of the Sacred Triduum. The mentioned responsive prayers are presented in relation to other European sources of the office, at the same time demonstrating the relationship between the Benedictine liturgical traditions and the customs cul-tivated in different diocesan and monastic centers in Western Europe.

Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje polskie przedtrydenckie księgi do sprawowania liturgii godzin pochodzące z klasztorów benedyktyńskich i zawarte w nich teksty responsoriów matutinum przeznaczone na kolejne dni Triduum Sacrum. Wymienione responsoria przedstawiono na tle innych europejskich źródeł oficjum, wykazując jednocześnie związki polskiej benedyktyńskiej tradycji liturgicznej ze zwyczajami kultywowanymi w różnych ośrodkach diecezjalnych i monastycznych Europy Zachodniej.
