In 2019, the employees of the Institute of Eastern Slavic Studies are celebrating a triple jubilee: as an academic community – the 20th anniversary of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn; as humanities scholars – the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities; finally, as philologists – the 20th anniversary of the Acta Neophilologica journal. Hence, we are summarizing academic achievements of researchers and teachers who have contributed to the establishment and development of the Institute. These are people who have had to face various problems on their professional path, yet their aim has always been to undertake, organize and popularize scientific research, improving their lectures and classes, promoting Eastern Slavic Studies as well as the university. This close-knit group of staff have contributed to and edited journals, organized conferences, participated in workshops, gaining new qualifications so that students could benefit from their expertise. Unfortunately, as a result of the reform of higher education enforced on the 1st of October 2019, the Institute of Eastern Slavic Studies will cease to exist.

The article focuses on the issue of preparing the schedule of didactic classes in the conditions of social isolation and sanitary regime during the COVID-19 pandemic at universities in Poland. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, based on individual interviews, partially directed, with employees responsible for planning in 2017 2021, analysis of existing databases, i.e. state-wide regulations and intra-university regulations. To elaborate on the subject, an outline of the pre-pandemic timetable preparation process was outlined and compared with planning in times of complete isolation and recovery to relative normality in a sanitary regime. The preparation of a relevant timetable of didactic classes, taking into account study plans for individual fields of study for the entire education cycle, is a time-consuming and responsible work, in which the margin of error should be minimized in: overlapping the implementation of didactic units and hourly miscalculation of individual subjects. This task in the period of isolation and relative stabilization in the sanitary regime was a huge challenge for planners, who often had to react to a dynamically changing pandemic situation. Inefficient preparation of timetables can significantly disrupt the organization of the didactic process in higher education.

This paper addresses the issue of preparing students for the job of early education teacher. The first part focuses both on the teacher training as carried out in various European countries according to the Eurydice report prepared for the European Commission in 2013, and on the notion, presented by Sylvia Yee Fan Tang, of the dynamics of students’ turning to teachers. The second part demonstrates the author’s own research. The participants were students of the Social Science Faculty at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The interpretation of the results is informed by Robert Kwaśnica’s two rationalities theory. The results demonstrate both the students’ attitude of entitlement and their adaptive thinking (rationality) as far as the preparing for the job is concerned. On the other hand, the results also show the participants’ emancipation rationality, which manifests itself in their constructive, though not thoroughly supported, suggestions pertaining to changes in education.

The dynamics of contemporary reality are expressed in rapid and radical demographic and social changes. These changes necessitate the need to adapt existing institutions to the needs of all age groups. An extremely interesting institution meeting the needs of people of all ages are intergenerational universities. The article undertakes to show the specificity of functioning in the field of intergenerational integration of an association called the Intergenerational University at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (UM WNS). This organisation is an example of good practice in activities conducive to intergenerational solidarity and intergenerational ties and relationships. The research used the method of searching and analysing secondary sources, located in the current reference archive of the association and the digital archive collected by the UM WNS. The article presents both the outline of the activities of the UM WNS in the perspective of the organization's cooperation with institutions of the local environment (especially seniors) and the characteristics of work in the intergenerational area: the implementation of workshops, lectures, seminars and conferences.

Dynamika współczesnej rzeczywistości wyraża się w szybkich i radykalnych zmianach demograficzno-społecznych. Zmiany te wymuszają konieczność dostosowania istniejących instytucji do potrzeb wszystkich grup wiekowych. W artykule przedstawiono zarówno zarys działalności UM WNS w perspektywie współpracy organizacji z instytucjami środowiska lokalnego (zwłaszcza środowisk seniorskich), jak i charakterystykę pracy w obszarze międzypokoleniowym: realizacji warsztatów, wykładów, seminariów i konferencji.
