Thesis/Objective – The article is focused on contemporary information services delivered by public and academic libraries and their typology. Research method – The current literature in the field was analyzed based on the research done in ScienceDirect, SpringerLink and Wiley Online Library databases, the online catalogs of National Library of Poland and Jagiellonian Library and NUKAT union catalog. Results/Conclusions – Contemporary information services mostly are delivered remotely via WWW and complement traditional services delivered on-site in the libraries. They are characterized by the multi-channel and instant delivery and synchronic communication, being also customized, involving and co-created by the users. The typology of the services presented in the article shows their diversity – the tools used to deliver those services include: chats and videochats, e-mail, net messengers, Web 2.0 solutions and mobile applications.

Teza/cel artykułu – Przedmiotem artykułu są usługi informacyjne świadczone przez biblioteki publiczne i akademickie. Głównym celem przeprowadzonej analizy było scharakteryzowanie współczesnych usług informacyjnych oraz opracowanie ich typologii.Metoda badań – Dokonano systematycznej analizy literatury przedmiotu na podstawie wyszukiwania prowadzonego w bazach: Science Direct, SpringerLink i Wiley Online Library oraz w katalogach Biblioteki Narodowej, Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej i NUKAT. Wyniki/Wnioski – Współczesne usługi informacyjne są przede wszystkim świadczone zdalnie za pośrednictwem sieci i stanowią uzupełnienie tradycyjnych usług realizowanych w bibliotece. Charakterystyczna dla współczesnej działalności usługowej jest wielokanałowość i szybkość przekazu informacji oraz synchroniczny charakter komunikacji. Usługi informacyjne są spersonalizowane, angażujące i współtworzone przez użytkowników. Opracowana typologia usług informacyjnych pokazuje ich różnorodność. Wśród narzędzi wykorzystywanych w procesie świadczenia usług informacyjnych można wyróżnić: czaty i wideo-czaty, pocztę elektroniczną, komunikatory internetowe, narzędzia Web 2.0 oraz aplikacje mobilne.
