The article explores a pastors' group portrait painted by the noted Latvian artist Teodors Uders in 1908. The painting shows thirteen Lutheran pastors of different generations posing with a Bible and Vidzeme Songbook first published in 1889. The author traces each pastor's personality and contribution to the development of Latvian language and sacred literature in the context of national awakening as well.
