Purpose: A study was conducted to investigate the Turkish Validity and Reliability of the Insulin Initiation Attitudes Scale of individuals with Type 2 diabetes. Materials and methods: This methodologically planned study was conducted with 128 Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who met the sampling criteria. Data collected using a personal information form to identify individuals diagnosed with diabetes and CH-ASIQ, which assessed their attitudes towards diabetes, and the form Insulin Therapy Attitude Scale parallel as a parallel form. For the statistical analysis of the data, Construct Validity, Exploratory Factor Analysis, and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Pearson, Gutmann, Split Half, Spearman, Cronbach Alpha coefficient methods were used. Results: It was statistically significant; it is seen that 14.1% of the participants were in the 41-50 age range, 37.5% were in the 51-60 age range, and 48.8% were 61 and over. According to Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, the result was found to be 0.626. According to the results of factor analysis, 4 factors have emerged which have Eigenvalues above 1 and explain 69.48% of the total variance. According to Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling Results of the scale were found to be p=0.000. According to Cronbach Alpha result 0.756. Conclusion: There was a relationship between attitudes to having information about the treatment of diabetics and attitude, and there was the relationship between them. Effects of fear, pain on these findings were observed. The importance of education for a positive attitude was determined. The importance of patients' attitudes towards insulin therapy should be emphasized for adaptation to the disease.

The choice of a work career is one of the most important events in a person’s life course and typically involves secondary socialization and identification with role models. This paper is concerned with the crucial role of my PhD dissertation supervisor at McMaster University, Dr. Billy Shaffir, in my choice of an academic career. I highlight and celebrate how, through the guidance of Dr. Shaffir, I experienced “immersive socialization” into field research and happily converted from an intended business career to an academic career.

The aim of the paper was to explore how principles of estimating validity and reliability of research instruments, as described in respected methodology textbooks, are satisfied. The initial parts of the paper delineate the theoretical framework and describe the concepts of validity and reliability. The following sections of the paper explain the process of analysis and its findings. The Journal of Educational Research was chosen as the research focus. A sample of 56 randomly selected articles from it has been inspected. The analysis revealed that a large majority (91 %) of research instruments used in these articles was scales and tests, the rest were questionnaires, observation schemes and interviews. Surprisingly, validity was calculated only with 26 of instruments; the rest of instruments were standardized tests or they were face-validated. As far as scales are concerned, construct validity was documented by means of factor analyses. Content validity and face validity were used in tests, questionnaires and interviews. We consider the infrequent use of combination of two sources of validity (e.g., construct and concurrent or discriminant) to be a weak element in the validation processes in the sample of studies. Reliability was documented with 80 % of research instruments. The most frequent method of calculation was Cronbach’s alpha. Inter-rater reliability was used in observations and tests; test-retest reliability was used to control the stability of the pretest-posttest measuring instrument. The size of reliability coefficients in most of studies exceeded 0.80. Throughout the analysis it was corroborated that when judging validity and reliability one has to critically consider the specific conditions of each research study before expressing an evaluation statement.

Tourism revenue is an extremely important source of income in terms of countries. At this point, each country competes with other countries in its selected field. The Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) is an indicator which reveals who is better, and this index constitutes the order of countries. In this study focuses on the competitive ranking alternative to the Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI). Fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis (FDEA) was used for this purpose.

The purpose of this study is to develop a reliable and valid scale for measuring digital identity definitions, digital personalities, self-presentation strategies, communication styles in digital contexts, and digital identity perceptions of digital environment users over the age of 18. This study is significant since it is the first scale study on the subject of digital identity in Turkish literature, filling a gap in the field and creating a unique, reliable and valid scale. The process of developing this scale consists of many phases. First, in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 people and an item pool was created by reviewing literature and data obtained. Item numbers were reduced according to the view of experts. Expert opinions were obtained using the Lawshe method. Afterwards, the pilot study was applied to 278 participants for construct validity. Following this, the main study was conducted with 511 participants. After the data was collected, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were carried out. The scale’s validity and reliability was tested and approved. The result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was a scale with 28 items and 3 factors. These findings are deemed important so that this scale can be considered a reliable and valid measurement tool.
