The Role of the Art of the Word in Władysław Stróżewski's Aesthetic Reflection   The article explains how the philosophical analyses of Cyprian Norwid's, Bolesław Leśmian's, and other poets' writing play a critical role in Władysław Stróżewski's aesthetics. His decision to look at the basic themes in aesthetic (and anthropology) from the perspective of the art of the word let to a novel elaboration of the knowledge of beauty and in an original manner directed it towards further axiological reflection.

In this paper, I argue that Stróżewski sees the meaning of artwork in getting closer the essence of things, in grasping their eidos (of their ideal Gestalt), in a specific, Platonic sense. Stróżewski's theory could, therefore, justify not only the representational forms of art, but also the "pure" objects and colours of abstract art, and even the very optical structure of new art media. On the other hand, his objectivist approach to beauty as an ontological value is at odds with a pragmatic view of the relationship between artwork and receiver, as shown by the disagreement with Roman Ingarden.

The author discusses the relationship between the idea of postmodernism and the idea of Sacrum in contemporary architecture through a theory conceived by Władysław Stróżewski. Th e architecture of most Polish churches which were built during the last decades can be classif ied as postmodern. The question that arises is whether or not it is possible to experience religious sacredness under this type of architecture. Th e author presents information concerning the essence of sacred architecture and an outline of postmodern philosophy. In the third part she analyses three Polish churches, which can be described as postmodern. Th e author makes an attempt to answer the question of whether this architecture fulf ills its main function (experiencing sacredness in a postmodern setting). In conclusion, the author makes a connection between contemporary facets in f ine arts and architecture and its involvement in religious architecture.

The text introduces selected elements of Władysław Stróżewski's philosophy regarding the nation and art, emphasizing in this context the role of quality and the importance of values, as well as the metaphysicality of art and metaphysicality in art. The introduction of the concept of transcendentals later leads to the suggestion that art can show how these basic values become Polish. The aesthetic theory is extended by Grzegorz Sztabiński's observations on contemporary art. A discussion follows of the concepts of "margins of transcendence", its equivalents, observations of its possible experience, the active experience of artists and the sacralization of art, as well as the "skin of transcendence". These proposals, treated as ways of finding the metaphysicality of art and the metaphysicality in art, are applied to artistic examples. The works of Artur Żmijewski, Jerzy Bereś, Piotr Uklański, Jakub Woynarowski, Jakub Skoczek, and Jerzy Kalina are analyzed and interpreted. The conclusion includes a reflection on the expansion of the "margins of transcendence" appropriate to contemporary Polish art and the place of metaphysicality in it.

The aim of the article is to bring together in a systematic way Władysław Stróżewski’s philosophical reflections about love. Even though they doubtlessly play an important role within his philosophical thought, they never received a comprehensive articulation by the author himself. On the basis of a number of his texts, it can be concluded that the essential way of being for love is being a value. For the author of the Logos, wartość, miłość (Logos, Value, Love), this value has several crucial features, such as, for example, its formative character when it comes to the two sides of a relationship, its sense-making function in human life, the lack of self-sufficiency which makes it look for fulfillment outside of itself, its dialectical relationship with freedom, and its ability to create new qualities, connected with its demand to be actualized. An analysis of the Polish philosopher’s writings reveals that he was concerned with three kinds of love: for another human being, for one’s homeland, and God’s love for humanity and the world. The first type is analysed from four perspectives: axiological, ontological, phenomenological, and psychological. The second type is described by Stróżewski through the concept of patriotism, of which he attempted to give a regulative definition.. About the third form he was most enigmatic, but he emphasized the influence of God’s love on the work of creation. The article also points out the sources of Stróżewski’s ideas about love, such as Plato’s Symposium, Jolanta Brach-Czaina's Szczeliny istnienia (The Fissures of Being), the poetry and prose written by Cyprian Norwid, and the Holy Bible. All these, in their different ways, inspired Stróżewski to come up with his own, original reflections on the sense and essence of love.

Pheneomenology there was and there is an important trend in the history of philosophy. Although it is not homogeneous creation, but a varied and rich one, there is something that connects phenomenologists: it is the disare to return to things, to their essence and relationships between them. One of the thing that must be investigated is undoubtedly the human being. In the Polish philosophical milieu we can find numerous philosophers who deal with the nature and condition of man. Some of them come from the Krakow community, and their wide and rich work allows us to speak of the existence of the Krakow school of anthropology. In this article, I would like to present the philosophical thought about the nature of man by several phenomenologists from this school. They include: Roman Ingarden, Karol Wojtyła, Władysław Stróżewski and Józef Tischner. The most outstanding of them is undoubtedly Roman Ingarden, who influenced the way of thinking of other philosophers.

Należą do nich: Roman Ingarden, Karol Wojtyła, Władysław Stróżewski i Józef Tischner.

The article is devoted to Norwid studies of the outstanding philosopher Władysław Stróżewski. The author draws attention to the specificity of philosophical approach to Norwid`s poetic works. He emphasizes the elements that bring Stróżawski’s work closer to Norwid’s work in the field of epistemology and axiology.
