Weapons and especially the combination of different types of weapons in graves usually serve as a starting point for considerations regarding armament and fighting style. On the basis of regional or temporal differences of the weapons present in the graves and their combination, changes in the way of fighting are deduced. In addition, quantitative differences in the equipment of graves with weapons are often used by others to try to prove differentiated gradations in the social rank of the buried. Apart from the fact that at least some of the weapons can be ceremonial or ceremonial weapons or – especially arrowheads or spears – hunting or competition weapons and not the weapons actually or primarily used in battle, it is problematic to draw direct conclusions from the graves´ inventory about the existence of weapons in this world.

The aim of the article is to discuss one of the legal instruments used for controlling access to weapons, namely decisions on weapon permit applications. A weapon permit is an administrative decision which, however, is not uniform. We may distinguish two following types of such decisions: a) a decision regarding a personal weapon permit application and b) a decision regarding a bearer weapon permit application. In the first case, an addressee of an administrative act must be a person specified by name and in the second case, a businessman (e.g. a businessman with a license to run economic activity in the field of protecting persons and property, if weapons are indispensable to him within the scope and forms specified in the license) or an organizational unit (e.g. entrepreneurs maintaining shooting ranges, schools, sports and shooting associations, defense organizations and so forth). A weapon permit is an administrative decision issued by a competent chief constable of the regional police forces or a military police commanding officer after all the requirements specified in the Firearms and Ammunition Act have been met.

In this article, we deal with the evaluation of finds of La Tène militaria – weapons and fighter equipment from the Pohanská hillfort in Plavecké Podhradie, which lies in the Small Carpathians. These objects as part of iron objects hoards are found here. They are mainly the points of lances, spears, as well as swords with scabbards with an “S”-shaped clip. In addition, there are decorative cases for knife sheathes. An important part of the finds is composed of parts of horse tackle in the form of curb bits and their components, spurs also appear. The La Téne hillfort Pohanská is dated to the period of the end of the middle and the beginning of the late La Tène LTC2 – LTD1a. As well as this site, new finds of weapons have appeared in the Small Carpathians in the form of an extremely long lance from Pezinok and the fragment of a sword from Smolenice-Molpír, where the settlement is contemporary with that of Plavecké Podhradie-Pohanská.

The paper deals with occurrence of pear-, ball- or egg-shaped artefacts made of the antler or bone. In Russian scientific literature the term 'kisten' is used for its description. It is a part of striking weapon, in which movable joining of head and handle is used to increase the striking effect. Strokes are heavier and defence is more difficult than from stave and mace. Comparing with sword, mace or war hammer, impact force is not transmitted to the handle. The shield protection against strokes is problematic, too. Another advantage is that its head on the chain can wrap around the enemy's weapon. Ensuing swift movement backwards pulls the weapon out of his hands. In the Slovak scientific literature the term 'bijak' is used for this weapon, which occurs in horseman's graves from the Period of the Avar Khaganate. That's why its single-handed variant is hypothesized to exist. Majority of bludgeons can be dated to the late phase of the Period of the Avar Khaganate. In addition to another phenomena and artefacts that existed at the Khaganate territory in this period, occurrence of bludgeons proves intensive contacts between the Carpathian Basin and the Saltovo-Mayaki culture, where this type of weapon appears rather frequently.

The weaponry and equipment of the Slovak or rebel army belongs to relatively lesser known or even unexplored areas of our military history. It is a matter of general knowledge that the Slovak Army possessed the cannons of the German origin, which were supposed to gradually replace the material of Czechoslovak origin. However, the use of this material is less known or marked by an insufficient archival research. In my study, I deal with more detailed processing of the issue of delivery of the German Howitzers of the 18 (leFH-18) Model for the Slovak Army in 1942 to 1944. The use of the 18 Model Howitzers including their use in the training and in combat had brought a relatively significant progress even in spite having its limits. The issue applies to both the Slovak Army and the uprising the 1st CS Army.
