Artykuł w całości poświęcony został biografii i analizie dorobku naukowego Feliksa Rymowicza (1870-1905), który był wybitnym lekarzem okulistą. W 1893 roku ukończył Akademię Medyko-Chirurgiczną w Petersburgu jako laureat. W 1896 roku otrzymał stopień doktora medycyny. W latach 1897-1903 kierował oddziałem ocznym w Szpitalu Wojskowym w Kazaniu. W latach 1898‒1903 był asystentem przy katedrze patologii ogólnej na Uniwersytecie Kazańskim. W 1905 roku został czynnym członkiem Towarzystwa Lekarskiego Warszawskiego oraz został powołany do służby wojskowo-lekarskiej na Dalekim Wschodzie.

The article presents the biography and analysis of the scientific achievements of Feliks Rymowicz (1870- 1905). In 1893 he graduated from the Medical-Surgical Academy in St. Petersburg as a laureate. He obtained a doctoral degree in 1896. In the years 1897-1903 he was the head of the ophthalmic department at the Military Hospital in Kazan. He was an assistant at the chair of general pathology at the Kazan University between 1898 and 1903. In 1905 he became an active member of the Warsaw Medical Society and was called up for military-medical service in the Far East.

Poniższa praca przedstawia postać polskiego okulisty Bolesława Ryszarda Gepnera (1863-1923) wraz z jego dorobkiem naukowym. W 1888 roku ukończył studia na Wydziale Lekarskim Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. W 1889 wyjechał zagranicę i pracował jako okulista w Heidelbergu, Frankfurcie nad Menem i Berlinie. Od 1891 roku pracował w Instytucie Oftalmicznym w Warszawie, a w 1900 roku został tam ordynatorem nadetatowym. W 1908 roku powstało w Warszawie Towarzystwo Okulistyczne, a Gepner został jego wiceprzewodniczącym. W latach 1921-1923 pełnił funkcję prezesa Polskiego Towarzystwa Okulistycznego. W 1911 roku został współzałożycielem Towarzystwa Opieki nad Ociemniałymi w Warszawie. Był synem Bolesława Gepnera (1835-1913) wybitnego polskiego okulisty, prezesa i członka honorowego Towarzystwa Lekarskiego Warszawskiego.

The following work presents the biography and scientific achievements of the Polish ophthalmologist Bolesław Ryszard Gepner (1863-1923). In 1888 he graduated the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Warsaw. In 1889 he went abroad and worked as an ophthalmologist in Heidelberg, Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. From 1891 he worked at the Ophthalmic Institute in Warsaw, and in 1900 he became chief physician there. In 1908, the Ophthalmology Society was established in Warsaw, and Gepner became its vice-president. He was the president of the Polish Ophthalmology Society between 1921 and 1923. He co-founded the Society for the Care of the Blind in Warsaw in 1911. He was the son of Bolesław Gepner (1835-1913), the prominent Polish ophthalmologist, president and honorary member of the Warsaw Medical Society.

Artykuł opisuje biografię oraz dorobek naukowy polskiego okulisty Konrada Mikołaja Rumszewicza (1850‒1927). W 1874 roku ukończył studia na Uniwersytecie św. Włodzimierza w Kijowie. W latach 1877‒1879 był kierownikiem oddziału ocznego Szpitala Wojskowego w Kijowie. W 1880 roku uzyskał stopień doktora medycyny. W 1904 roku został wiceprezesem Towarzystwa Lekarskiego Oftalmologicznego w Kijowie. W 1907 roku został prezesem Polskiego Towarzystwa Lekarskiego w Kijowie.

The article describes the biography and scientific achievements of the Polish ophthalmologist Konrad Mikołaj Rumszewicz (1850-1927). He graduated from the University of St. Vladimir in Kiev in 1874. He was the head of the ophthalmic department at the Military Hospital in Kiev between 1877 and 1879. He obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1880. He became vice-president of the Medical Society of Ophthalmology in Kiev in 1904, and became president of the Polish Medical Association in Kiev in 1907.

Był prezesem Towarzystwa Lekarskiego Warszawskiego w latach 1885-1888 i 1897-1899. Od 1883 roku był współwłaścicielem „Gazety Lekarskiej”. Opublikował razem z Witoldem Jodko- Narkiewiczem tłumaczenie i streszczenie podręcznika okulistyki Louisa de Weckera. Był również ojcem wybitnego polskiego okulisty Bolesława Ryszarda Gepnera (1863-1923).

In the years 1865-1867 he worked in Berlin at the Albrecht von Graefe ophthalmology clinic. He was the chief doctor of the Ophthalmic Institute in Warsaw between 1891 and 1913. He was the president of the Warsaw Medical Society in 1885-1888 and 1897-1899. From 1883 he was a co-owner of "Gazeta Lekarska". Bolesław Gepner and Witold Jodko-Narkiewicz published a translation and summary of Louis de Wecker's ophthalmology textbook. He was also the father of the outstanding Polish ophthalmologist Bolesław Ryszard Gepner (1863-1923).
