The motion, which is the main idea of the Way of the Cross, needs space to occur. Jerusalem became a pattern that was imitated across the world by the Calvary Foundation. In accordance with the utopian theory, the sanctuaries combine the characteristics of a garden and a city. Calvary creates a new space which can be deemed artificial because it transfers urban solutions into natural environments. The city of everyone can also create a space that is involved in the Way of the Cross. Religious manifestations that accompany the celebrations of the Good Friday cause that the tradition of the Passion is still alive, and give new meanings to the new areas across which the procession leads.

Ekstremalna Droga Krzyżowa (EDK) to nowa forma tradycyjnego nabożeństwa Drogi Krzyżowej. Polega ona na przejściu nocą, samotnie i w milczeniu trasy o długości ponad 40 km, podczas której są rozważane stacje Drogi Krzyżowej. Cechą odróżniającą EDK od innych nabożeństw pasyjnych jest podjęcie na tyle dużego wysiłku fizycznego, który – pokonywany – powinien prowadzić do spotkania z Bogiem. Przeprowadzone badania terenowe miały na celu ustalenie, czy EDK rzeczywiście jest ekstremalną aktywnością. Badania były związane z pomiarem parametrów treningowych (tętna, dystansu, czasu trwania wysiłku, kosztu kalorycznego, obciążenia treningowego, czasu regeneracji) u wybranej grupy uczestników typowej EDK. Otrzymane dane wskazują, że wysiłek fizyczny podczas EDK jest duży lub ekstremalnie duży, co potwierdza ekstremalność EDK.

Extreme Way of the Cross (EDK) it’s a new form of traditional devotion of Way of the Cross. Relies on walk by night, alone and in silence more than 40 km route, while contemplate Way of the Cross station. Difference between EDK and others passion devotions it’s a big effort in EDK, which lead to meet with God. Conducted field research were intended to determine, whether EDK indeed is an extreme activity. Research were related with measurement training parameters (pulse, distance, duration of effort, caloric cost, training load, recovery time) at the selected group of the typical EDK. Test results indicate, that physical effort during EDK is big or extremely big, which confirms the extreme of the EDK.

Zmiany w funkcjonowaniu i częstości występowania wykrzykników (interiekcji) w rozważaniach drogi krzyżowej w ciągu ostatniego stulecia

W artykule przeprowadzono porównanie dawnych i współczesnych rozważań drogi krzyżowej pod względem funkcji i częstości występowania w nich wykrzykników. Analizie poddano 100 polskich tekstów opublikowanych w pierwszej połowie XX wieku i 100 współczesnych tekstów (wydanych po soborze watykańskim II). Okazuje się, że liczba interiekcji we współczesnych tekstach radykalnie się zmniejszyła. Obecnie występują tylko w specjalnych kontekstach w utrwalonych formułach i w stylizacji, bardzo często w użyciu ironicznym. Artykuł porusza także problem rozróżnienia wykrzykników i innych części mowy, a także interiekcji emotywnych i imperatywnych.

The article presents a comparison of older and contemporary texts in respect of the functions and frequency of interjections. The analysis is based on about 100 Polish texts used in Catholic ceremonies of the so called Way of the Cross published during the first half of the 20th century and 100 contemporary texts of devotional practice (after the Second Vatican Council). It appears that the number of interjections in contemporary texts has decreased radically. At present they occur almost exclusively in special contexts — in fixed formulas and stylization, they are frequently used in ironic utterances. The paper also deals with the distinction between interjections and other parts of speech and considers the problem of differences between emotive and imperative interjections.

Rev. Prof. Jerzy Kopeć’s extensive research legacy exhibits liturgy as a multidimensional and multifaceted reality. Among the variety of research issues undertaken by the famous liturgist there was the one concerning the Passion and the Marian cult as seen from the historical per- from its earliest manifestations, first focusing primarily on Christ’s Cross and the salvific power of His death, then on the highlighting of the sinfulness of man, up to the moment where the historical marking of the soteriological role of Christ’s Cross and Passion as a way of redemption from sin became prominent. Rev. Prof. Kopeć made a link between theology and the particular forms of cult, which allowed a wider insight into the current manifestations of Passion devotion. A similar view can be held on his research of the Marian cult. Rev. Prof. Kopeć analysed the roots of the cult and their influence on its growth. He showed how this cult related to the doctrine of the Church and to the phenomenon of popular piety.

Bogata spuścizna naukowa ks. prof. Jerzego Kopcia ukazuje liturgię jako rzeczywistość wielowymiarową i wieloaspektową. Pośród wielu problemów badawczych, podejmowanych przez tego wybitnego liturgistę, jednym z głównych był problem kultu pasyjnego i maryjnego w ujęciu historycznym. W tematyce pasyjnej w ujęciu ks. prof. Kopcia widać wyraźnie rozwój kultu od najstarszych jego przejawów, skoncentrowanych głównie na Krzyżu Chrystusa i zbawczej mocy Jego śmierci, przez podkreślenie grzeszności człowieka aż do historycznego zaznaczenia soterycznej roli krzyża i męki Chrystusa jako ocalenia od grzechu. Powiązanie przez Księdza Profesora tematyki teologicznej z konkretnymi formami kultu pozwala na szersze spojrzenie na aktualne przejawy czci pasyjnej. Podobnie spojrzeć należy na badania dotyczące czci Matki Boskiej. Opisane przez Księdza Profesora rozwijanie się kultu maryjnego łączy on z analizą jego genezy, znaczenia oraz relacji między doktryną Kościoła a tym, co dzisiaj nazywamy pobożnością ludową.
