The aim of the article is to analyse the state of and differences in the socio-economic situation of towns of Czarnków-Trzcianka poviat located in Wielkopolska voivodeship. The poviat features four small towns: Trzcianka, Czarnków, Krzyz Wielkopolski and Wielen, with Czarnków as the poviat capital and Trzcianka as the biggest locality. In the first part their position is determined in terms of their level of socio-economic development seen against the entire set of small Wielkopolska towns. In the other part, a comparison is made of the urban space of the towns evaluated by five categories of spatial order, and the most important ‘good’ and ‘bad’ places identified as such by their residents are listed.

Celem opracowania jest ocena stanu i analiza zróżnicowania sytuacji społeczno -gospodarczej miast wchodzących w  skład powiatu czarnkowsko-trzcianeckiego położonego w  województwie wielkopolskim. W powiecie znajdują sie cztery małe miasta: Trzcianka, Czarnków, Krzyż Wielkopolski i Wieleń. Stolica powiatu jest Czarnków, a największym miastem Trzcianka. W pierwszej części opracowania określono pozycje miast powiatu ze względu na poziom rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego na tle całego zbioru małych miast województwa wielkopolskiego. W drugiej części dokonano porównania oceny przestrzeni miejskiej badanych miast w zakresie pięciu kategorii ładu przestrzennego i wskazano najważniejsze, zdaniem mieszkańców, pozytywne i negatywne własności charakteryzujące owe miasta.
