From 1902 (when book publication was embarked upon) to 1939 there were altogether 333 titles of cohesive print issued by Wiktor Kulerski’s Graphic Works Plants of which about 23% was in the Prussian era. Until 1919 efforts were made to get access to readers through popular publications (fairy tales, stories, short stories, tales), calendars and songbooks – publications popularizing polish history, teaching Polish language and framing national consciousness. In independent Poland current reading propositions have been supplemented by Polish literature and world literature adaptations, religious, occasional and peassant movement publications, books about organizations and associations, reports on institutions in Grudziądz, textbooks and guidebooks. The offer was varied and addressed to a wide circle of readers, trainee purchasers, besides it manifests town life after the attainment of independence. An effective way of getting to polish readers and urging them to read were publications issued under different titles „free supplements to the Grudziądz Newspaper’’ received by subscribers of Kulerski’s periodical.
