Throughout the Golden Age the rewriting of dramatic works becomes a common form of literary creation. Few are the playwrights who did not feel the need to return to the works of their predecessors with the intention of improving or updating texts against the changing tastes of the public. This general phenomenon is exemplified in this paper through the rewriting in two different printed versions carried out by Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón of a play dedicated to the historical-legendary matter related to the figure of Bernardo del Carpio: El conde de Saldaña y hechos de Bernardo del Carpio.

Niewielu jest dramaturgów, którzy nie odczuwaliby potrzeby powrotu do dzieł swoich poprzedników z zamiarem ulepszenia lub aktualizacji tekstów wobec zmieniających się upodobań publiczności. To ogólne zjawisko jest zilustrowane w tym artykule poprzez analizę na nowo napisanej i wydanej w dwóch różnych wersjach drukowanych przez Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón sztuki poświęconej historyczno-legendarnej tematyce związanej z postacią Bernardo del Carpio: El conde de Saldaña y hechos de Bernardo del Carpio. Lecturas y reescrituras de Hechos de Bernardo del CarpioA lo largo del Siglo de Oro la reescritura de obras dramáticas se convierte en una forma común de creación literaria. Pocos son los dramaturgos que no sintieron la necesidad de volver sobre las obras de sus predecesores con la intención de mejorar o actualizar textos frente a los gustos cambiantes del público. Este fenómeno general se ejemplifica en este trabajo a través de la reescritura en dos versiones impresas distintas llevada a cabo por Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón de una obra suya dedicada a la materia histórico-legendaria relacionada con la figura de Bernardo del Carpio: El conde de Saldaña y hechos de Bernardo del Carpio.

Morze Bałtyckie stanowiło ważny punkt na mapie państwa polskiego, stąd też zmagania o dostęp do niego ukształtowały myśl morską już u jego zarania. Zygmunt Stary jako pierwszy król Polski docenił posiadanie własnej ;oty wojennej. Politykę morską ojca prowadził Zygmunt August, naczelny admirał polskiej ;oty wojennej. Po śmierci Zygmunta Augusta strażnikom morskim przewodził starosta pucki pułkownik Ernest Wejher. Panowanie Stefana Batorego nie przyczyniło się do pogłębienia aspiracji morskich Rzeczypospolitej, a panowanie Zygmunta III Wazy oraz panowanie jego synów, Władysława IV i Jana Kazimierza wypełnione były walkami ze Szwecją o stan posiadania nad Bałtykiem. Złoty Wiek był chlubnym epizodem w morskich dziejach Rzeczypospolitej.

The Baltic Sea was a very important point on the map of the Polish state, hence the struggle for access to the sea has shaped the maritime thought from the dawn of its history. Sigismund the Old was the rst Polish king who appreciated having his own navy, Sigismund’s maritime policy was run by his son, Sigismund Augustus, supreme admiral of the Polish Navy. After his death the marine guards were led by the governor of Puck Colonel Ernest Wejher. The reign of Stephen Báthory did not contribute to the deepening of the Polish Republic’s maritime aspirations. The reign of Sigismund III Vasa and his sons: Władysław IV Vasa and John II Casimir Vasa were filled with struggles against Sweden on the holdings of the Baltic Sea. The Golden Age was, however, a notable episode in the history of the Maritime Republic.

W Złotym Wieku proces przekazywania literatury dostarcza wielu przykładów użycia przez pisarzy tematów, motywów lub argumentów, a także dosłownych tekstów zaczerpniętych od innych pisarzy. To zjawisko dramatycznego przepisywania zostało przedstawione w niniejszym artykule poprzez konkretny przypadek grenadyjskiego scenarzysty Álvaro Cubillo de Aragóna w dwu jego pracach, dla których wzorcami są dwie sztuki Lope de Vegi. Jedną z par stanowią El bastardo de Castilla i El conde de Saldaña, drugą zaś, odpowiednio, Las mocedades de Bernardo del Carpio i El casamiento en la muerte. Analiza kompozycji i technik pisania są wyraźnym przykładem nawyków kompozycyjnych Cubilla.

In the Golden Age the process of transmitting literature provides lots of examples of the use that writers made in subjects, motives or arguments as well as literal texts taken from other writers or their own work. This phenomenon of dramatic rewriting is exemplified in this paper through the concrete case of the grenadian playwriter Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón through two works that take as model two plays of Lope de Vega. One is, on the one hand, El bastardo de Castilla and El conde de Saldaña, and, on the other hand, Las mocedades de Bernardo del Carpio and El casamiento en la muerte, respectively. The analysis of its composition and its writing techniques are a clear example of Cubillo’s compositional habits.

En el Siglo de Oro el proceso de transmisión de la literatura brinda innumerables ejemplos del aprovechamiento que los escritores hacían tanto de temas, motivos o argumentos como de textos literales tomados o entresacados de plumas ajenas o de su propia obra. Este fenómeno de la reescritura dramática se ejemplifica en este trabajo a través del caso concreto del ingenio granadino Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón mediante dos obras que toman como modelo dos de Lope de Vega. Se trata, por un lado, de El bastardo de Castilla y de El conde de Saldaña, y, por otro, de Las mocedades de Bernardo del Carpio y de El casamiento en la muerte, respectivamente. El análisis de su composición y sus técnicas de escritura son un ejemplo claro de los modos compositivos de Cubillo.
