As we might think that we know everything of dogs, for dog domestication took place tens of thousands years ago and dogs have accompanied the humans since then, both at work and at home – kynology has developed greatly over the years. The article aims to answer the questions of the thematic scope that is of interest to kynologists, where they retrieve information from and what omissions have been disclosed in the selected sources. Along with theoretical considerations the article presents the results of the questionnaire on the sources of kynological information. As predicted, the most popular medium was the Internet. The respondents have also provided a list of reservations concerning the contents of the selected literature and are willing to further extend knowledge on dogs.

Choć wydawać by się mogło, że o psach wiemy wszystko – wszak pies został udomowiony kilkadziesiąt tysięcy lat temu i od tego czasu nieodłącznie towarzyszy człowiekowi zarówno w pracy, jak i w domu – to jednak kynologia na przestrzeni lat bardzo się rozwinęła. Celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytania, jaki zakres tematyczny interesuje kynologów, skąd czerpią oni informacje na interesujące ich tematy i jakie braki istnieją w wybranych źródłach. Obok rozważań teoretycznych przedstawiono wyniki ankiety dotyczącej źródeł informacji kynologicznej. Bez większego zaskoczenia najbardziej popularnym medium okazał się internet. Ankietowani podali również listę zastrzeżeń do publikowanych tam treści, wykazując chęćciągłego pogłębiania wiedzy na temat psów.
