Contemporary civilization and cultural changes mean that students experience many psychological, social and physical challenges that may contribute to mental difficulties and disorders. The article presents the results of qualitative research on the opinions of female pedagogy students suffering from depression on the social determinants of their illness, their difficulties studying and the availability of support. Studies have shown that students suffering from depression have a strong need to obtain specialist psychological support at the university.

The appearance in the space of the city of new public and private higher education institutions implies expansion of the academic areas, take over by the higher education institutions so far different used objects and production of a services zones oriented to the needs of students. The example of Wroclaw city shows, that new higher education institutions appear mostly outside the Old City and Downtown, often locating on former industrial or military areas, creating new academic spaces.

Pojawienie się w przestrzeni miasta nowych uczelni publicznych i niepublicznych implikuje rozszerzanie się strefy dzielnic uczelnianych, przejmowanie przez uczelnie odmiennie dotychczas użytkowanych obiektów i wytwarzanie się strefy usług nastawionych na potrzeby studentów. Przykład Wrocławia pokazuje, że nowe uczelnie wyższe pojawiają się głównie poza obszarem Starego Miasta i Śródmieścia, często lokując się na dawnych terenach przemysłowych lub wojskowych, tworząc nowe przestrzenie akademickie.

„Space speaks“ – Research Basics within Linguistic Landscape on Selected German and Polish Examples The linguistic landscape in which we live is shaped by various kinds of texts. Such determined frames of a given space have an invariable influence on the kind and type of communication, and the space itself influences the functions of texts that are in it. The aim of the article is to indicate the assumptions and research possibilities within the Linguistic Landscape. They will be discussed on German and Polish examples of real space co-formed by texts in both cultures.

In dem Beitrag wird auf die Grundlagen der sich seit einiger Zeit etablierten linguistischen Disziplin – Raumlinguistik eingegangen. Es werden mögliche Vorgehensweisen bei der sprachlichen Raumbetrachtung und Betextung des Raumes diskutiert. Die theoretischen Erwägungen werden mit einigen Beispielen aus dem deutschen und polnischen Sprachraum illustriert.
