Research problem: in the XXI century the values of the consumer society are not only underestimated by human spiritual needs, but also by the person and his religious dimensions. There is a need for the Church to respond to the various forms of anthropological crisis (AC), especially in Catholic schools (CS), to help educators understand the expression of the existing AC by recognizing it and  by being prepared to have a response, hence conveying it to the younger generation. This research, which have not been discussed on the theoretical level, will help define AC (there are many different descriptions of this phenomenon, but there is no unified  definition), presenting its expression and formulating the Church’s response to forms of AC in CS. The role of the educator is becoming very important, in answering the question: How will the pupils receive the response and what position will they take in this respect through their learning in the CS? This research is important for the Catholic religious education, at least on the  theoretical level; there will be a clear expression of the AC of the XXI century and the Church’s response to its forms in an attempt to define the role of the educator in this perspective.

This study synthetically undertakes the main message of the encyclical of Saint John Paul II on the 25th anniversary of its announcement, March 25, 1995. The purpose of displaying and reminding was not only the celebration of the anniversary, but above all the fact that today this document reveals its extraordinary timeliness, perhaps greater than when it was published. Here, the prophetic charisma of Saint Pope John Paul II is revealed. Noticing certain socio-cultural phenomena dominating the world and the ideas in which they had their roots, the Polish Pope decided that it is right and necessary to remind the world about the message that the Church foretells about the mystery of man. This mystery reveals its splendor in the light of God’s revelation, i.e. the Gospel which is the Person of Christ himself. In our time, the Gospel of life sounds extremely loud and requires steadfast, convincing and persistent preaching to the world today.

Modern ecological risks associated with the anthropological crisis of nature, leading to the paradoxes of the ecological state of humanity, are analyzed. It is substantiated that the unlimited use of natural resources causes a misbalance between human actions and the riches of nature. The question of the necessity of exploring the man-nature relation in the context of humanistic revolution is raised; it allows us to perceive the relation to nature as caring which includes such existential elements as agreement, tolerance, respect, and care. We are discussing an alternative view of the relationship between man and nature in anthropologies of exploitation and violence. It is necessary to realize the value of nature precisely in its ontological intentionality and not because it is valuable solely in terms of utilitarianism and pragmatism. It is determined that over technological human activity has led to catastrophic changes in large natural areas, destruction of natural water resources, and global warming, which threatens the biosphere and may lead to fundamental changes in the state of nature. The assumption is made that it is impossible to exclude the situation on the existence of the threat of catastrophe between man and nature; at that, the human search for the options of communication and preservation of nature and man, and their anthropological characteristics becomes expedient.

Ekumeniczna perspektywa wyzwań ponowoczesnego świata akcentuje jedną z podstawowych antropologicznych prawd chrześcijaństwa: człowiek jest osobą w relacji z drugą osobą i w odniesieniu do Trójcy Świętej.

Ecumenical perspective of challenges of the postmodern world stresses the anthropological key truth of Christianity: human being may be a person only in relation with another one and with regard to the Trinitarian community. In the opinion of theologians involved in the ecumenical movement, it seems to be impossible to face uncontainable consumptionism, egoistic individualism, relativism and social exclusion of both individuals and entire nations without recognition and reception of this anthropological assumption. Furthermore, this key truth may be expressed through various means and cultural patterns provided by the various systems of culture. An example is the African concept of Ubuntu. The article highlights ecumenical interpretations of trends of the globalized postmodern world, in particular the ones which have been moulded by the World Council of Churches. Yet, ecumenism as a movement encompassing the whole world leads to the encounter of various cultures in the perspective of the Gospel. Ecumenical dialogues provide an opportunity to show how Christianity may transform the corrupted social relations of the contemporary world.

This article studies the phenomenon of overcoming and provides a rationale of the understanding of the totality of human experience that integrates the situation of over-coming as that of the transcendence of human existence. As the basis of the research we use an integrated model of archaic cultural overcoming of the life–death dichotomy— a metaphysics of overcoming. A result of this metaphysics is a specific dialectical on-tology of myth, represented as an ontology of return. Manifestationism, holism, alo-gism, metamorphism, animism, cyclism, and sacralism are the general principles of this ontology. Return ontologies are in conflict with the ontology and metaphysics of the finite present in the religious and scientific worldviews. The author sees the prospects for a further study of the phenomenon of overcoming in using the subjective energistic approach that leads to understanding the phenomenon of overcoming at the biosocial level. The results of the research can be used as a philosophical basis for the develop-ment of an archaeological activity theory, in particular, a unified integrated approach to the ancient burial ritualism. They also allow to deepen the theoretical concepts of man, society, and culture.

The Enlightenment did not suggest resignation from a great narration and did not postulate to replace it with some minimalistic proposal of a lay state which openly confesses that it is not interested and does not have any competence in the area of religion. It did not pass homo religiosus indifferently. It introduced into the politics an idea of the state and public space which is free from Catholic narration, originally for a civic religion, then for worldview neutrality. On behalf of the thesis of the end of great narrations, with time it introduced a great narration of “naked public space”, which – due to its exclusivity demand – became a part of a political program for social promotion of atheism. The article presents the influence of the Enlightenment on the European culture, and in particular it pays attention to the anthropological crisis in Europe which is the consequence of the anti-Christian character of this trend. Contemporary EU politics is a continuation of the Enlightenment ideas.
