W opracowaniu przedstawiono analizę zmiany liczby gospodarstw ekologicznych i użytkowanych gruntów rolnych w latach 2012-2017, dla 28 krajów UE. Liczba gospodarstw ekologicznych wzrosła z 250,1 tys. do 312,2 tys. (24,6%), natomiast powierzchnia upraw zwiększyła się z 10,1 mln ha do 11,9 mln ha (18,6%). Udział gospodarstw ekologicznych w stosunku do jednostek konwencjonalnych wynosił 2,8%. Z kolei powierzchnia upraw ekologicznych w porównaniu do ogólnej powierzchni gospodarstw rolnych stanowiła 6,8%. W ostatnich latach obszary objęte uprawą ekologiczną wykazywały tendencje progresywną, a ponadto notowano zjawisko wchodzenia i wychodzenia z sektora ekologicznego. Rolnictwo ekologiczne była zdominowane przez produkcję roślinną, a wśród niej największą pozycję zajmowały trwałe użytki zielone (65,5%) oraz zboża (21,5%). W systemie rolnictwa zrównoważonego produkcja zwierzęca odgrywała znacznie mniejszą rolę.

The study presents an analysis of the change in the number of organic farms and arable land used in 28 EU countries, which was presented for the years 2012-2017. The number of organic farms increased from 250.1 thous. up to 312.2 thousand (24.6%), while the area of cultivation increased from 10.1 million ha to 11.9 million ha (18.6%). The share of organic farms in relation to conventional units was 2.8%. In turn, the area of organic crops compared to the total area of farms accounted for 6.8%. In recent years, areas under organic farming have shown a progressive tendency, and in addition, the phenomenon of entering and exiting the organic sector has been recorded. Organic farming was dominated by plant production, and among it the largest position was occupied by permanent grasslands (65.5%) and cereals (21.5%). In the system of sustainable agriculture, animal production played a much smaller role.
