The article presents the problem of the co-occurrences of opinions on important non-financial work aspects among people from different age groups reflecting various stages of professional development: career start, phase of attainments, stage of preserving attainments and a rest phase. The study is based on non-metric survey data, which determines the use of adequate research methods. Association analysis is applied in order to identify patterns of responses. The revealed association rules indicate that there are differences in the perception of non-financial work values among respondents from different age intervals.

The article aims at presenting the results of the application of multidimensional association rules to explore the potential determinants of satisfaction with services. The bases for the search are the results of a study on the importance of social engagement and attachment to the place of residence to the satisfaction of the services provided by LGUs. The article has a research nature and has been prepared on the basis of the results of the survey. The research procedure also benefited from the literature in sociology and data mining available in the form of books and articles. The results of the carried out analysis indicate that between social engagement and satisfaction with services provided by LGUs and attachment to the place of residence and satisfaction with the services there are links and they can be pointed to as determinants of customer satisfaction. One should not assume that the two mentioned relationships relate to the entire studied population, but to the selected groups.

The article is dedicated to the modelling of a new project evaluation systems based on knowledge. Author suggests possible direction of project evaluation systems development. This enabled the application of data mining algorithms for discovering patterns in data sets. The concept of a new evaluation system based on knowledge is synthetically discussed. The example of using association rule base for analysis of project stakeholders surveys is also presented.

The existing approaches to the evaluation of on-line commercial services quality include various quality indicators. The application of multiple attributes for quality evaluation enables and involves specialized analysis techniques to carry it out. This article proposes to utilize association rules in the quality evaluation of the on-line services. The analysis carried out of the discovered association rules has provided interesting dependencies and relationships on the individual characteristics of the on-line commercial service. On the basis of such on analysis, conclusions can be made regarding the general quality of the on-line commercial services. The discovered dependencies and connections can be used in shaping online commercial service quality. Conclusions from the analysis of the association rules can therefore be used to improve the on-line commercial service quality comprehensively which can lead to the higher satisfaction of e-customers

W niniejszej publikacji zaproponowano jedną z metod eksploracji danych – reguły asocjacyjne do wykrycia zależności w opiniach konsumenckich, na przykładzie opinii jednego z hoteli amerykańskich. Wykorzystanie tej techniki wynikało m.in. z dużej ilości dostępnych danych oraz faktu, że otrzymane reguły w sposób niezwykle czytelny prezentują zależności znalezione w danych. W badaniu odkryto szereg reguł, które mogą stanowić cenne źródło informacji o jakości usług oraz postrzeganiu obiektu przez klientów korzystających z usług hotelowych.

This paper presents application of one of data mining techniques – association rules to analyze customer reviews, based on the data gathered at one of the American hotels. The application of association rules is due to the large volume of available review data and the fact that the rules can be presented in a very clear and meaningful way. The study resulted in a number of interesting rules that can be a valuable source of information about the quality of services and the perception of the hotel by the clients.

W tym badaniu autorzy uzyskali wstępną ocenę skuteczności wykrywania szczepień przeciwko COVID-19 w UE-27. Empiryczną podstawą badania jest dzienna liczba zachorowań na COVID-19, szczepień, hospitalizacji i zgonów w krajach UE w okresie od marca 2020 do marca 2022 r. Reguły asocjacji posłużyły do zidentyfikowania nieoczywistych powiązań między szczepieniami przeciwko COVID-19 oraz przypadków zachorowań, hospitalizacji i zgonów z powodu COVID-19. Uzyskane wyniki posłużyły do grupowania krajów UE według poziomu szczepień przeciwko COVID-19, przypadków choroby, zgonów z jej powodu oraz hospitalizacji dla krajów członkowskich UE. Do analizy skupień zastosowano metodę k-średnich grupowania. Ujawniono ukryte zależności liczby zachorowań na COVID-19, liczby hospitalizacji z powodu COVID-19 oraz liczby zgonów z powodu COVID-19 w związku z liczbą szczepień przeciwko COVID-19 w krajach UE. Stwierdzono z dużym prawdopodobieństwem, że szczepienia istotnie wpływają na poziom zachorowalności. Po raz pierwszy uzyskano reguły asocjacyjne, które są wstępnymi szacunkami zależności między dynamiką szczepień przeciwko COVID-19 a dynamiką zachorowań na COVID-19, hospitalizacji z tego powodu i zgonów w krajach UE. Wyniki mogą posłużyć do podejmowania korzystnych decyzji, np. do uregulowania polityki szczepień w poszczególnych krajach UE i przewidywania przyszłych konsekwencji choroby.

In this research study, the authors obtained the preliminary evaluation of the impact detection of vaccinations against COVID-19 in the EU-27. The empirical basis of the study was the daily number of COVID-19 cases, vaccinations, hospitalisations, and deaths in the EU countries from March 2020 to March 2022. Rules of association were used to identify non-obvious associations between vaccinations against COVID-19 and cases of illness, hospitalisations, and deaths from COVID-19. The obtained results were used to cluster the EU countries by the level of vaccinations against COVID-19, cases of COVID-19, deaths from COVID, and COVID-19 hospitalisations for the EU member states. The K-means clustering method was used for cluster analysis. Hidden dependencies of the number of COVID-19 cases, the number of COVID-19 hospitalisations, and the number of COVID-19 deaths due to the number of vaccinations against COVID-19 by EU countries were revealed. It was established with a high probability that vaccination significantly affects the level of morbidity. For the first time, association rules were obtained, which are preliminary estimates of the relationship between the dynamics of vaccinations against COVID-19 and the dynamics of COVID-19 cases, COVID-19 hospitalisations, and deaths from COVID-19 in the EU. The results can be used to make beneficial decisions, for example, to regulate vaccination policies in individual EU countries, and predict the future consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

W artykule przedstawiono możliwości i korzyści zastosowania metody analizy asocjacji, zaliczanej do metod eksploracji danych (ang. Data Mining), w zagadnieniach dotyczących wyborów przez studentów nieobowiązkowych zajęć dydaktycznych. Krótko opisano metodę analizy asocjacji i budowy reguł asocjacyjnych, szczególną uwagę poświęcając algorytmowi Apriori, jednemu z najpopularniejszych algorytmów analizy asocjacji i budowy reguł asocjacyjnych, w sposób uporządkowany i logiczny realizującemu potrzebne działania oraz przystępnie, przejrzyście i zrozumiale obrazującemu ideę analizy asocjacji i generowanie reguł asocjacyjnych. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem wyboru przez studentów zajęć, spośród prowadzonych na Wydziale Nauk Ekonomicznych Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego we współpracy z SAS Institute Polska, w ramach ich cyklu o nazwie „Data Mining Certificate Program”. Wskazano, wraz z krótką wzmianką o jego działaniu, oprogramowanie wspomagające przeprowadzanie analizy asocjacji, tworzenie reguł asocjacyjnych i interpretację uzyskiwanych wyników – program SAS Enterprise Miner firmy SAS Institute Inc. z USA, wykorzystywany przez nas w zaprezentowanym w artykule zagadnieniu wyboru zajęć dydaktycznych przez studentów.

This article discusses the possibilities and advantages of the association analysis method, belonging to Data Mining, in problems relating to choices made by students from elective courses. Such choices are possible when students can freely choose several courses from separate groups of elective courses. The association analysis method and the construction of association rules are briefly described. Particular attention was paid to the Apriori algorithm. It constitutes one of the most popular algorithms for the association analysis and the construction of association rules. The Apriori algorithm in an orderly and logical manner performs necessary actions as well as accessibly, transparently and understandably reflects the concept of the association analysis and the construction of association rules. The considerations are illustrated using an example of choices made by students from elective courses conducted within the educational path called “Data Mining Certificate Program” at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Univerity of Warsaw, in cooperation with SAS Institute Polska. The discussed issue of elective courses selection was explored using SAS Enterprise Miner software from SAS Institute Inc. U.S. – the article provides a very short presentation of its functionality, possibilities of performing the association analysis and the construction of association rules, as well as interpretation of the analysis results.
