The article presents some fragments of the studies concerning archaic components, included in biblical lexis, still existing in contemporary Ukrainian and Russian languages. These two languages have coexisted and developed in close contact with Church Slavonic language for eges. This resulted in the creation of the whole biblical heritage. However, in the historic process of transforming biblical lexical items into the everyday language of both nations, their relationship with the source has considerably faded away. Church Slavonic language has provided contemporary biblical lexical items with archaic phonetic, morphological and lexical features and due to this they maintained solemn, ceremonious character which is typical of biblical style.

The phrase wierzgać przeciw ościeniowi – from origin to dictionary The paper provides a proposal of a monographic description of a selected linguistic unit in the Polish language, namely the phrase "wierzgać przeciw ościeniowi", which so far has been commonly perceived as belonging to the resources of Polish biblisms. The work is divided into two parts. The first section is devoted to a rather peculiar genetic status of the phrase, previous description of the unit, its textual realisations in biblical and general Polish language, as well as the state of native lexicographic records. The second part contains synthetically approached data from the first part in the form of a trial dictionary entry of the phrase "wierzgać przeciw ościeniowi", as the ‘trailer’ of multicontextual lexicon of Polish biblisms, combining the elements of philological, biblical and cultural knowledge into a whole.

The aim of the thesis is to show King David’s Psalms written by Bohdan Drozdowski in the light of Psalter style. Analyses are focused on traditional biblical phrases compared with a faithful translation from the Latin written by Jakub Wujek. Conducted analyses pointed to the conclusion that the amount of biblical constructions is suprisingly high. What is important they appeared not only in parallel fragments of other Psalters but also in different parts of the text. Also the author made intertextual references to other biblical books and a number of modifications. It brings the reflection that tradition is strongly present in the paraphrase but on the other hand it is creatively imitate.

The article is a linguistic microanalysis of the origins, status and history of a single phraseological unit ziarnko gorczycy ( the mustard seed). It is classified thematically in the Polish language as a floristic set expression of Biblical origin. A detailed report on this phraseologism is an opportunity to point out the rhetorical contexts of other Polish Biblical expressions and their lexicographic descriptions. As a lexical unit that represents a thematically specific phraseological group, ziarnko gorczycy allows for additional linguistic and cultural research that points to the pictures of the Biblical world entrenched in the Polish language.

The article presents the research on the knowledge of the norm in biblical phraseology in Polish among native speakers of Polish and Ukrainians learning Polish as a foreign language. The competence of native speakers in normative phraseology has been analyzed based on biblical phraseologisms found in The National Corpus of Polish (NKJP) and on the Internet. Some details of the use of selected idioms in NKJP and Internet, such as frequency, innovations based on them and semantic idiosyncrasies, are also presented. The phraseological competence of the Ukrainian students has been researched on the basis of the data from questionnaires listing biblical phraseological units with proper names in Polish

The paper is dedicated to some selected units of biblical origin in the Polish language, namely fixed word combinations (idiomatic expressions). The author is trying to answer the question whether the collection of such units has the qualities of a closed set, or demonstrates a contemporary tendency to multiply its resources. What is essential for this description is the division into primary and secondary units of biblical origin. Apart from historical data and conditions, which are linked with this issue of Polish phraseology, the paper also contains several examples of the processes, as a result of which the language acquired new phrases of biblical origin.

In recent decades, in the post-Soviet area, an interest of linguists in religious subjects has been increasing. Linguists undertake a large-scale research on the religious image of the world. Studying the Bible gains in importance, and the attention of many researchers focuses on the multi-facited description of phraseological units of the biblical origin. In contemporary Russian linguistic analyzes, there are two approaches to the study of phraseological expressions of biblical provenance: in accordance with the Russian or western research traditions. Representatives of both fields of study refer in their works to the achievements of Russian or foreign scientists. The resulting studies are typologically diversified. Among them you can find literary, philosophical and linguistic works, articles of historical and cultural character, descriptive and comparative works (created on the basis of material from several languages), experimental dictionary publications and other types of scientific texts. The present article is a presentation of the most important, in my opinion, works on the religious image of the world.

The purpose of this article is to point the Jewish gravestone’s inscriptions as a source of interdisciplinary research. They contain for example the rich Biblical onomastics and phraseology and also a lot of citations from Bible – especially in eulogies and lamentations. The matzevot and inscriptions can be a starting point to the comparative studies on the level of language, theology, culture: including sepulchral tradition of Jews and Christians.
