Harmonia axyridis, also known as the harlequin or harlequin (from the English name Harlequin lady beetle) or the Asian ladybug, is an invasive species. It belongs to the ladybird family (Coccinalidae). It comes from the region of eastern and central Asia from Altai to the coast of the Pacific Ocean and from southern Siberia to southern China. The first documented appearance of Harmonia axyridis in Poland was recorded in September 2006 in Poznań - Ogrody, and then in October of the same year in Mokrz near Wronki, then in Zielona Góra, Wrocław and Mazovia. In 2008, the appearance of the Asian ladybug was also found in Gdańsk, it is expected in the eastern part of Poland.

Harmonia axyridis zwana arlekinem lub harlekinem (od angielskiej nazwy Harlequin lady beetle) lub biedronką azjatycką jest gatunkiem inwazyjnym. Należy do rodziny biedronkowatych (Coccinalidae). Pochodzi z rejonu wschodniej i środkowej Azji od Ałtaju po wybrzeża Oceanu Spokojnego i od południowej Syberii do południowych Chin. Pierwsze udokumentowane pojawienie się Harmonia axyridis w Polsce odnotowano we wrześniu 2006 roku w Poznaniu - Ogrodach, a następnie w październiku tego samego roku w Mokrzu koło Wronek, później kolejno w Zielonej Górze, we Wrocławiu i na Mazowszu. W 2008 roku pojawienie się biedronki azjatyckiej stwierdzono również w Gdańsku, oczekuje się jej we wschodniej części Polski.
