Znaczenie potrzeby generatywności podkreślają psychologowie roz- wojowi, andragodzy i pedagodzy rodziny. Ujawnia się ona w różnych kontekstach, spośród których pierwszoplanowymi są rozwój osobowy człowieka dorosłego, budo- wanie trwałych relacji międzypokoleniowych, wypełnianie zadań opiekuńczo-wycho- wawczych wpisanych w rolę rodzica. W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę zwrócenia uwagi na zestawienie znaczenia generatywności z dorosłością rozumianą za Barbarą Harwas-Napierałą jako spełnienie. Kluczem do spełnienia w dorosłości jest potrzeba generatywności, która biorąc pod uwagę jej całożyciowy charakter, staje się złożonym i trudnym do zrealizowania zadaniem rozwojowym współczesnego człowieka. Reflek- sja wokół tak zakreślonego zagadnienia ukazuje generatywność jako zmieniającą się w biegu życia potrzebę pod względem jej specyfiki, zakresu, poziomu zaangażowania opiekuńczego. Niemniej fundamentalną z punktu widzenia egzystencjalnego.

The significance of the need for generativity has been emphasised by de- velopmental psychologists, andragogues and family pedagogues. It is revealed in dif- ferent contexts among which personal development of an adult, building stable inter- -generational relationships, fulfilling educational and guardianship tasks assigned to the role of a parent are the primary ones. The paper attempts juxtapose the significance of generativity with adulthood understood, according to Barbara Harwas-Napierała, as fulfillment. The key to this fulfillment is the need for generativity which, having in mind its lifelong character, becomes for a contemporary man a developmental chal- lenge that is complex and difficult to realize. Reflection upon the subject outlined in this way presents generativity as a need that changes during the course of life in its specificity, scope and level of care involvement. It is, however, fundamental from the existential point of view.
